Pushing Templar off=Cheese
Pushing Atheon off=Cheese
Having 1 man cross bridge=Cheese
Preventing Crota from standing up=Cheat
Using only 1 orb at golgoroth=Strategy
Not killing ogres at a particular time=Strategy
People are soo quick to throw out the word "cheese".......
We didn't end up using this strategy when we defeated oryx, always had a guy die on the way up.
We found an easier way where we had a titan floating with a blessing bubble in the middle between platforms with mallace.
Whoever didn't have to jump on pillar that cycle would join him in the middle to pop in and out of bubble melting ogres as they spawned.
Doing this along with some shots from the people on the pillars took down the ogres quick.
This gives plenty of time for they guys to turn and snipe their knights.
Runner should be saying that he has the relic by that point,
Everyone heads to middle, takes out vessel and shoots oryx.
Stagger, detonate bombs return to middle, shoot at his chest.
Rinse and repeat.
When you get teleported, if you can pop a blessing bubble it helps with the shade swinging.
Also an optional tip...having 1 guy run up to start the fight while the team stays back between platforms. Don't shoot the thtalls, you can let them come to you and bunch up. Hit them with a tether if you have a hunter. Once tethered, kill them all creating plenty of extra orbs for when needed.
Hope this was helpful.
Thanks for commenting
Wow 1000+ replies, for the most part, a lot of really good points have been pointed out..

Cheese: doing something outside the standard mechanics Exploit: finding a hole in the game and abusing it Strategy: using the most logical method of the mechanic to your needs. Examples of cheese: Sending a Hunter up to solo the abyss and jump on a rock. Sending one guy to solo the templar oracles part while the rest stay up. Examples of exploit: Pushing bosses off the ledge Pulling the lan cable out Examples of strategy: Not stopping the templar from teleporting, and staying right to cleanse when you don't kill an Oracle Going invis through the abyss to not worry about adds One/two orb method on Golgoroth

People who are hating on this strategy probably have never done it because it actually takes some skill as well. It's not like it's Waaaay easier than the standard way. (Is there even a standard way??) the runner has to stay alive through all the ogres, ads still have a good chance to kill you, and for some weird reason oryx little mortars are still killing ppl w the help from Knights. So no it's not a cheese just another way of beating oryx. (If everyone doesn't abide by the 1,2,3,4,5, or 6 man gaze for golgoroth does that make the other a cheese??)
-
Pushing the Templar might have been a cheese but I thought it was hella fun. Pushing Atheon... Not so much fun
-
If people class this as a cheese then they obviously didn't play the game back in the VoG days with solar grenades ha. same here we haven't used this strat due to we found a titan floating with blessing worked just fine
-
Reading through the comments I get the feeling there's a lot of 12 kids playing ... Cheese is cheese and you can tell yourself anything you want ,, but we all know it's a cheese ... If you can't kills the orges and Knights your doing it wrong
-
Seriously who cares. The entire concept is ridiculous, you own the game. Play it however you like and who cares what others think. Like there is honor in video games lol. No honor since the creation of the contra code and then the game shark
-
Don't understand how people think it's a cheese, when like you said it's a strategy. I beat the raid last night using this strategy.
-
Yeah I don't like cheesing. But this is not a cheese. This is just smart.
-
Clever strat, not cheese or exploit.
-
Great strategy but a cheese? I think not.
-
Our relic runner had all kinds of trouble with this strat because he would get killed by the ogres and take too long to get up. Seems very very difficult for the relic runner. Also knights would kill detonators as they approached the bombs... For this to work, the relic runner has to be able to make it every time and all of the 6 people have to not die during every phase. Seems incredibly difficult and maybe more so than the normal titan bubbles in the middle strategy.
-
Not a cheese because just about every group kept boomers alive in Crota Hard so wizards wouldn't spawn. I've only played with 1 group who actually took out boomers and wizards
-
Sounds cheesy to me. Sniping is not hard (it's rather satisfying), I play the game to shoot things, not to not shoot things.
-
Nobody is doing anything that is not legaly available during Oryx phase, because nobody is cheesing him or the adds off the platform, nobody is lag switching, or using other exploits. So I say not killing ogres is a viable strategy, especially if you're below 310+ light level.
-
It's a giant bandwagon and everyone is riding it because they apparently built the raid from the ground up and knew exactly how it was intended to be fought. So many Bungie employees in these threads. My friend, you'd be better off keeping silent. I know it hurts. My brain aches for these poor souls.
-
Edited by Shadow Artiste: 10/26/2015 8:46:22 AMIt's not a cheese. It's how the raid was intended to be completed. Bungie didn't intend on us killing the ogres before stunning Oryx. You're supposed to kill the ogres after the stun and if you kill them too early (while still on your platforms, AKA cheesing) the light eater knights spawn as a penalty for killing the ogres so quickly. Prove me wrong.
-
People who think this strategy is a cheese are the same people who think posting something to your facebook from your phone because you didn't lock it is a "hack".
-
Edited by Wickedstrife: 10/26/2015 6:23:52 AM2 kinds of people call this a cheese. 1. Elitists who believe every mechanic bungie made should be followed exactly as they planned and anyone finding a way better than bungie made is wrong and a cheater, thus not deserving of the rewards. 2. People who obviously don't understand what a cheese is , and are just mad they can't beat the raid. Don't you remember the beginning when it was play destiny your way lol.
-
Edited by Cashjr23: 10/26/2015 8:57:10 AMwe all know the rule "do not kill the Adepts (yellow bars) because it would be harder to kill the others...same principle here...do not kill the Ogres because the Knights will spawn....cheese?
-
Bungie reacted on the killing ogres late strategy and they said Well done Nice strategy. I don't think its a cheese. Its not that easy 2 do
-
The word cheese is too widely used on this forum lol. Everybody and their brother screams cheese when someone figures out a smarter way to do it. Some kid a couple days ago said that the kid who soloed the black spindle mission was cheesing because he used a sword instead of fighting him. I just laughed
-
It's not cheese is strategy period
-
Its not a cheese. If this is a cheese , than doing the one orb strat on golgoroth also is one. Cause its designed to do 6 orbs with 2 gaze runners.
-
Edited by JTxDIESEL: 10/26/2015 7:38:53 AMIt's not a cheese, killing the Ogers causes knights to spawn making the fight harder. Lol in other words don't kill them! Not a cheese, duh

This.
