Pushing Templar off=Cheese
Pushing Atheon off=Cheese
Having 1 man cross bridge=Cheese
Preventing Crota from standing up=Cheat
Using only 1 orb at golgoroth=Strategy
Not killing ogres at a particular time=Strategy
People are soo quick to throw out the word "cheese".......
We didn't end up using this strategy when we defeated oryx, always had a guy die on the way up.
We found an easier way where we had a titan floating with a blessing bubble in the middle between platforms with mallace.
Whoever didn't have to jump on pillar that cycle would join him in the middle to pop in and out of bubble melting ogres as they spawned.
Doing this along with some shots from the people on the pillars took down the ogres quick.
This gives plenty of time for they guys to turn and snipe their knights.
Runner should be saying that he has the relic by that point,
Everyone heads to middle, takes out vessel and shoots oryx.
Stagger, detonate bombs return to middle, shoot at his chest.
Rinse and repeat.
When you get teleported, if you can pop a blessing bubble it helps with the shade swinging.
Also an optional tip...having 1 guy run up to start the fight while the team stays back between platforms. Don't shoot the thtalls, you can let them come to you and bunch up. Hit them with a tether if you have a hunter. Once tethered, kill them all creating plenty of extra orbs for when needed.
Hope this was helpful.

Wow 1000+ replies, for the most part, a lot of really good points have been pointed out..

This.

Personally I think that strat is harder. I always take on of the back plates and the ogres were always bang in the middle of a load of ads. Then there was the issues of people dying trying to jump. Just didn't work for us
-
OP made this post to overcompensate for his inability to do it the hard way.
-
Swiss American Provolone Cheddar Mozzarella What are the other types of cheese out there?
-
Its not our fault the knights happen to spawn too far away from the bombs because we "accidently" didnt kill the ogres till after we stunned oryx. Wink knudge wink knudge
-
It's not a cheese, but just barely, I hope the Heroic/Challenge mode does do something about it however.
-
I understand this can serve as an effective way to do the Oryx encounter, but seriously... how hard is it to kill the light eater knights as they spawn? It only takes two shots and the Knights give you a clear sight for their big ass heads as they're spawning in.
-
Who cares. If you beat him then congrats.
-
It's only a cheese if it's a bug/glitch in the game. If it's not then it's simply a Strategy.
-
What even is it? Could you link it plz
-
Cheesing means like manipulating something that has nothing to do with the fight itself. Broken things in the map or connection that people take advantage of. Not killing the ogres in this fight is like not killing the boomers on Crotas end at Crota. You don't kill them because that adds another element to the fight. If you can figure out a way to continue on and survive with them still there, then it's fine. Also, burning down Skolas was not a "cheese" just a specific strategy that used things that were already in the game to just power through a fight.
-
That's like saying its cheering golgoroth to use one orb instead of all 6
-
I heard people saying that using the Touch of Malice on the daughters and oryx is cheesing. Or the one orb strat for golgoroth is cheesing, I don't think people know what it means.
-
It reminds me of despawning enemies while forming the bridge on Crota Raid
-
Agreed
-
I already dont like this now every single random i get off lfg will do it this way and not the normal way
-
The reason it is cheese is because killing oryx like that does not require all six players to be effective and useful and take an equal share of the weight. This cheese method allows for carries, which has always been problematic in the destiny community, and I was hoping that the mechanics of this raid would make it impossible, but guess not.
-
What's this strategy you are referring to? Doesn't sound familiar. Someone please explain? I'm experienced with the oryx encounter but I don't think I've heard of this.
-
It's a cheese, Your cheesing the mechanics of the game, However if you can't kill ogres then a knight just quit.
-
Not killing vessel and knights=Cheese

Edited by Hangz: 10/26/2015 5:16:39 AMIt's cheating a mechanic though. I don't care how you do it. Leave me alone. You guys are annoying.

-
Agreed.
-
How the hell is this a cheese? I haven't even used the strat, and I don't see how it in any sense can be called a "cheese."
-
Can someone explain to me how exactly it is a cheese compared to how it "should" go?
-
If this is a cheese, then standing where most of us stood on the Crota fight is too.
