Final edit: This is regarding having a chance of getting no drops from hard mode. A lot of people, including myself, have gotten very frustrated with this to the point where we just don't want to play anymore.
PROOF THIS IS NOT A GLITCH AND SOMETHING WHICH IS INTENDED BY BUNGIE:
https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/169504792/0/0
It's not easy with a LFG team and after you spend a while fighting the boss, you get nothing or just normal mode loot. What's the point of doing it on Hard if you won't get loot anyway?
I've seen it all. Vault of Glass normal and hard, Crota's End normal and Hard, along with Prison of Elders. I've been through forever 29 but never complained about the rewards but this time I am as every other encounter gave you something every time.
Below is my original post.
Don't I just love it when I spend 20 min on a encounter only to get nothing? Last week it was nothing from sisters. This week, it was nothing from Golgoroth and I was the one who had the gaze. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to remove drops completely is a dumbass who deserves a slap to the face.
GIVE US GUARANTEED DROPS ON EVERY ENCOUNTER!
Just to clarify one thing, I'm not asking for straight 320 drops with perfect rolls. I'm just asking for drops. Now, with the variety of things you can get, you won't be done immediately. You get a drop, then it needs to be 320 and it needs desirable rolls.
For those of you saying "It has always been like this", it hasn't. I've been here since week one (Sign of Founders on my Hunter) and I'll tell you why. Before you got shards and / or energies. You could use those to upgrade your initial gear and make it more powerful. You got something out of it if you remembered correctly. Now, since you don't need ascendant materials to upgrade anymore, the equivalent could be seen as weapons or gear. You use high light stuff and upgrade your initial gear and make it more powerful.
If you do a normal raid and complete it, then do a hard raid, or just do a hard raid straight then you have the chance of getting nothing which has 310+ light until Oryx. What was the point of doing the previous encounters then if they don't guarantee you items? And it's not like this is infrequent. I didn't get anything from 3/5 encounters last week and 2/5 encounters this week. How is that fair?
Also, those of you calling me "entitled", I am entitled. I finished the activity therefore I earned the rewards. If you disagree with that then why not just remove loot completely from every activity?
Edit: 250+ replies. Let's keep going until Bungie sees this
Gecko 77 made a very good point:
Players should always feel like they are progressing. They should come out of the raid atleast one light level higher than when they started.
triplearod also made another very good point:
The main difference in VoG and Crota's End is all weapons were exactly the same so you had to only get them once, low drop rate is fine in that instance. Armor may have different stat roll but the maximum light was always the same
Now were not only rolling against the chance it drops, but its Atk/Def values, and its perks. Im fine with the variance as it makes the raid more replayable, but something should drop even if it is a 310 hallowed pieces of gear. Maybe that gear will have stats & perks I like and is worth infusing up.
Edit: RIP my notifications tbh

Edit 1500+ replies. Bungie, we're waiting on you
Edit 1750+ replies. Two updates later and no mention of this in any update... Really Bungie?

I think this would be smarter, after all not everyone can run the raid 3 times a week

Here is what I posted in another thread... In year 1 you could do the bridge in crota hard and know you had a chance to get a gun through rng. If you did get the gun you knew exactly what the attack value would be so it was just getting the gun...one variable through rng. Year 2 you do the war priest, you can get a gun...one variable through rng. However, attached to that rng is ANOTHER variable...light level. So you not only need rng to give you the gun (1 variable) you also need rng to give you higher light (2nd variable). You can even add a third variable if you want...Perks, but I'm just talking about progression. This goes the same for ANY drop in Destiny, however it is more pronounced in the end game pve and pvp because that gear is harder to get. You need the drop and the light for you to progress. That is the frustration of the light system. There needs to be a change. Signed.

Bump times a million. What's the point of raiding if you can literally get NO loot from every single boss?
-
I would sign but we couldn't even get past Totems last night. Yea our whole group was only max 305, but it was proving to be a real pain in the ass. Issues with the buff not passing off to the other person at the Totem, and then once those waves of Major Knights came out things got crazy. Guess it's back to a little more normal grind.

Sign here if you want this mouth breather to get hung by deej

Signed. I agree with this 100%. With VOG and Crota the Attack and Defense were maxed already. All you needed to do was to upgrade them. Now we have too many variables which does increases the replay-ability but it does enrage people when you get a 300 LMG from a Hard Raid Run. Me personally, I would like to see all Normal Raid Gear and Weapons drop at 310 and Hard Mode drop at 320. Keep the drop rates low (aka VoG). This way if you get a sniper or a class item, you will increase rank. Make the hunt the last piece, that much fun and easier to get.

What happened to playing the game for, idk, fun? Everyone is so loot focused anymore it makes this game nearly impossible to enjoy
-
bump, did the whole raid yesterday and was getting shards from every boss. makes the raid not worth the effort when you get nothing..
-
Bump!!! Where is this loot algorithm that was so highly touted BTW.

Edited by JediW00kie: 10/29/2015 11:31:46 AMDestiny is slowly becoming a pay-to-win game. I've also experienced grinding out the hard mode on multiple characters only to get horrible drops (repeat gear, lower light level, blue engrams) lets us also not forget how much three of coins fails on a daily basis (I know it's not guaranteed). With all the grinding and all the different ways to NOT level up, I have found myself putting the controller down and just watching Netflix. There's no incentive anymore to keep players coming back when it's more frustrating than fun to have to spend countless hours on a game that does not reward you, only to level up 1 or 2 light levels, in 3-4 hours of gameplay. Destiny was supposed to be the game to end all games, but it's become the game to end gaming all together. I'm over it, moving on. There needs to be a major update for Destiny, and hopefully they're taking all our advice into consideration. Oh yeah, signed!

They need to atleast make it so the first time you go thru it a week is guaranteed, Cuz then the power gamers that have a full fire team and do all 3 characters can excel with no trouble. I myself have not played the raid in a month Cuz I cannot get a group together. It is hard enough to get my 2 friends on at the sametime.

This is stupid doing the raid three times for crap. Fix your raid drops Bungie. Signed.
-
Bungie won't change it. Why? that's the point of RNG - you're expected to grind with multiple accounts. Destiny is more or less an MMO now. Get use to it. Want the best rewards? then Bungie will expect you to put in the hours to get it.
