I just don't have them along at all.
I'm 39, wife, two kids, mortgage, car payments and a career, I have zero common ground with a 13 year old.
I apply the same rule as I do with drinking, I go to a pub to drink with adults, I don't hang arround the local park on a Friday night swigging hooch with 14 year olds.
If you're a kid we have little in common, we have little to talk about, I don't know you, I don't want to know you, I have no desire to spend my r&r time with you.
You don't like that, that's just tough.

Spoken like someone who truly has lost the will to live. You're playing Destiny with the same kid, so really you do have common ground. Does marriage and having children really destroy people this much?
-
You might not realise this, because you have yet to participate in an adult conversation while playing destiny, but we almost never talk about destiny. The game itself is not common ground. Beyond anything mechanical, or 'watch out for that knight' we talk a load of crap that adults find entertaining. Adult conversation isnt for kids, much of it isn't appropriate, you have nothing to add and you don't get most of the context. Kids didnt have any real life experience they lack any good stories, that's what life experience gives you bloody good stories. I view a herpes scar like a skateboarder views a skinned knee, I've lived a life. Get back to me when your 24 and have some stories and tales to tell, don't want to know you in the interm.

We're in the same boat with that one. I refuse to play with kids

Couldn't have said it better myself

Who said you had to know him? He's adressing the age issue. Not attitude.
-
Guess you missed the whole pub analogy, also the comments about age and common ground.

Well said.
