Halo is a dying series.
The hardcore Xboners are clinging onto the glory days of Halo 1 & 2. Hoping, praying. I have unfortunate news. Halo 2 was 11 years ago. It's not coming back. The series has gone through 3 developers, each substantially worse than its predecessor. 5 games into the series now, and each game has also been worse and worse since Halo 2. It went from Grade A Kobe Beef to Ground Sirloin, not even Angus. The McDonalds variety.
It's current rendition offers a laughably short Campaign with poor storytelling. You can literally beat it in an afternoon or 2, and there is no reason to go go back. Zero replay value. For a game that is essentially PVP only, we were hoping it would be perfect. It has to be, to compete with other games that offer far more variety. Sadly, it was good but not great. I grew bored of it in 2 days. We will not be talking about this game in 6 months to a year. It didn't cut it. It's time to give Master Chief a proper burial.
It's over. Grieve, wipe your tears, say goodbye, pick yourselves up, and move on. I'm sorry guys, but life will go on. Remember the good ol' days in the early 2000's if it helps you move on. Maybe even pop in some Halo 1/2 and blow some Covenent face off.
R.I.P. Chief, you will be missed

It has way more than 5 games which just goes to show how little info you have about halo

Edited by domenico: 11/2/2015 12:54:24 PMHalo has a total of 12 game installments while CoD has a total 15 main game installments (this means not including games like "CoD Online" or others titles specialized for lesser systems like handhelds). Halo is undoubtedly a younger series, but I don't see a very large gap between these two. That is beside the point. Do you think they will stop at Halo 5? If no, what makes Halo and CoD any different?
-
Halo? A younger series? Considering Halo CE launched in 2001, and the first CoD game came out in 2003... You see, the difference is that they don't reskin Halo and sell one to two games for Halo every year. That's why there are less Halo games.
-
The same would be said about COD series. These dead horses will be beat for as long as they make money. Some will say each respective series is still alive and well, and that's an opinion we can respectively agree or disagree with. Play what makes you happy, just don't put other people or games down to justify your own choices.

Perfectly worded :)

You could always beat halo campaigns in an afternoon or two Still, the series just isn't the same since 343 took it over.
-
I'm assuming that's on easy If u could beat halo 1 on legendary in one day- impressive Halo 3- sounds good Halo 4- easy Halo 5- hard only due to useless allies and other random shit Halo 2 in one day?- u should be burned for witch craft

Edited by Wr3ckitR4lph: 11/2/2015 12:50:07 PMWhen you're talking about the length of time needed to beat a story mode, of course you're going to assume you're talking about normal difficulty. Every game takes longer on the hardest difficulty. Hell, call of duty campaigns can take days to beat on veteran.

Nothing I love more than watching gamers claim a series is dead because they don't like it anymore.
-
Halo was my childhood. It's time to label chief MIA. Spartans never die, but ffs stop trying to bring him back.
-
3 developers?... Bungie and 343 who else?
-
Here is a list of all the good halo games: Halo 1 Halo 2 Halo 3 Halo reach Halo 4 Halo 5
any other halo they release
-
Halo 3: ODST Halo Wars Halo Spartan Assault (then again I don't really count that)

This is the sad truth, Halo was such a big part of m life, reach started the downhill, then 4..finally made me move on.
-
Not a huge fan of slow paced games. Halo 1 and 2 multiplayer was pretty trash, to me. Halo 3 was really fun with custom games and forge, and reach had fun forge and infection.
-
Lol I love how much nonsense people spout on these forums.

Edited by FangedNomena: 10/31/2015 8:47:15 PMIf you said that the series was getting progressively worse, I'd agree with you. But there's only been two developers, Bungie and 343i. And there's has been more than 5 games, at least 6 with full multiplayer support (Reach). Of course there's also ODST and Halo Wars (which I loved actually and can't wait for the sequel).
And I think you meant to say MIA Master Chief. Spartans never die
Edit: Halo Wars was made by a third developer, forgot. Still I doubt you were including Halo Wars
