Nothing beats it. It's essentially a ranged arc blade. You get an over shield, and can use it at further ranges, making it much more difficult to go up against. With blade dancer, it was just a shotgun and melee. Can't do that to people in storm trance. They get you from further range, because warlocks of course get it easy becuase they require no skill. Hell, even sunbreaker takes more skill than stormtrance.

There's two sides to this argument here. The stormcaller isn't overpowered, that's the bottom line, but I can see why you'd think it is. It gets a 50% damage reduction, it's range is on the cusp of mid range, and the chain lightning will kill guardians just as fast as a direct hit, and you (normally) can't get close enough for the way most players play. But, even with that, you still have enough time before they kill you to pull off a quick headshot with one of the many snipers that can kill them. 1000-yard stare Stillpiercer (hunters) Eriene (omolon sniper, sorry for butchered spelling) Snipers in that archetype will one shot a stormcaller. Hammer of sol can use vertical spaces to avoid the lightning, and the hammers do significant damage (two hammers, I believe) Fist of havoc can survive and put down a stormcaller easily Nova bomb has the same results as FoH. Golden gun baseline can kill a stormcaller in a single shot. Blade dancers need their range, but it's possible Nightstalkers have an inherent edge against all active supers, so there's really no contest. Stormcallers die pretty quick, so as long as you stay out of their range, or out of their frontal sight lines, you'll normally win out. You just need to think. Play smarter, and you can beat them.
