Cemeteries, graveyards, whatever you want to call them, how do you feel when visiting them?
I ask because today was my first time visiting a cemetery alone in a long time, and I almost forgot how relaxing and peaceful they seemed to be. The reason I stopped by one is because the cemetery my son is buried in is right next to my dentist's office, so after my appointment today I thought i'd go check on him and brush off his grave. It's not unusual for me to visit him, this was just the only time i've done it on my own in a while.
I don't quite know what it is, but despite being located by a busy road and a neighborhood of townhouses, it felt like I was a world away from everything else, and I haven't felt that kind of peace for a while until then. Some people feel like cemeteries are gloomy or creepy, and I could understand why, but I tend to feel at peace and actually able to focus for a change. I suppose it's just a reminder of the fate we're all bound to reach eventually, and that perspective tends to put a lot of things...well, "in perspective".
No matter how different any of us are, we all can find unity in that one day we will die.

Unsettling. Even dead I'd never want to be under the ground.
