Etheric Light should be used to make Rare gear into Legendary gear
As of now, Etheric Light is the most useless drop in the game. It has no purpose and does nothing for you; you can't even turn it in to the Speaker for Glimmer or Motes. But, what if it had a new purpose? I was thinking a while back about how nice some of the Rare armor sets in the game look, and how much it sucks that I can't wear them without handicapping myself. And then I thought about Etheric Light; purposeless and useless Etheric Light. But then it hit me; what if that oh so useless Material could be used to upgrade a Rare armor piece/weapon into a Legendary weapon? It would give Etheric Light a purpose and double if not triple Armor Customization. And just for balancing reasons, Etheric Light would only change gear from Rare to Legendary; and not affect Dmg/Dfns values. Upon upgrading the gear to Legendary, its Dmg/Dfns value would stay the same: so that 287 Rare helmet stays 287 upon upgrade, but now you can actually Infuse it to a higher value.
Come on, you ALL know you want to wear a Legendary Seraph I armor set.

I think this would be a great idea to offer some more variety in class armor. There are some hunter cloaks that are really awesome that are only rare and useless beyond a certain point. I would love to have them be legendary. I think the only problem would be the stat boost loss. None of the rare gear has the strength, discipline, or intellect boost perks. Other than that I think this would work really well

Farming it is a pain in the ass now as well thanks to how stats work with relation to player level. I still have all my old POE gear, but if I equip any of it I'm destroying my cooldowns which pretty well negates having the special bonuses from the armor which, at the time they were relevant were pretty damned strong. Good job obsoleting an entire year's worth of content Bungie. So goddamn sick of vertical progression in gaming, freaking WoW (Cataclysm) ruining the MMO scene... because God forbid we have actual variety in games instead of just jumping from 1 flavor of the month to the next all the time.
