As of now, Etheric Light is the most useless drop in the game. It has no purpose and does nothing for you; you can't even turn it in to the Speaker for Glimmer or Motes. But, what if it had a new purpose? I was thinking a while back about how nice some of the Rare armor sets in the game look, and how much it sucks that I can't wear them without handicapping myself. And then I thought about Etheric Light; purposeless and useless Etheric Light. But then it hit me; what if that oh so useless Material could be used to upgrade a Rare armor piece/weapon into a Legendary weapon? It would give Etheric Light a purpose and double if not triple Armor Customization. And just for balancing reasons, Etheric Light would only change gear from Rare to Legendary; and not affect Dmg/Dfns values. Upon upgrading the gear to Legendary, its Dmg/Dfns value would stay the same: so that 287 Rare helmet stays 287 upon upgrade, but now you can actually Infuse it to a higher value.
Come on, you ALL know you want to wear a Legendary Seraph I armor set.

Hello Ktan Dantaktee, I think your post would be more appropriate in the feedback section. I suggest you remove your #Destiny tag and replace it with #Feedback for better results.
;)
To be honest, it's a horrible idea. First of all, blues have less perks, are saying it would RNG a random extra perk? Second of all, I would hate to get a year 2 item then have to go run year 1 content to make it better. Also, turning it in as faction rep makes no sense, it's a reef item, if anything we should be able to break it down for rep with variks, or at the least for rep with the queen - now I'm not saying this is useful, but it makes sense. Bungie would never make it so it can reroll the perks on legendary gear, the reroll weapons option last expansion was the worse thing ever, it totally killed farming, and caused weapons that didn't have the best perks to be useless. If you've ever played another mmo before you will be familiar with new expansions rendering old things completely useless, the best they should do is make it slightly better than useless.

Wtf that shit still drops. Haven't seen any in ages.

BUMP!

I want those original boots for the warlock with the wings on them they looked awesome
-
As Enigmatic Entity has so helpfully mentioned this should be posted on #Feedback for better results. To do this select the 3 dots option on your post then select edit and change the tag to #Feedback.

It should completely fill one equipments XP bubbles.
-
Nah, since it's old content stuff, not happening, I rather it gave me lots of Motes & Glimmer when traded to the Speaker.
-
Didn't read a thing but the post heading, and bump.
-
all I want to do is be able to wear my Gwalior set that I fell in love with when playing the demo loud and proud while raiding. that's it.
-
Edited by Dabsta: 10/31/2015 10:58:03 PMNaw, I think it should be used like motes of light. And max your gear automatically. That's worthy of a legendary consumable, and not even close to game breaking.
-
Yes! Rare's look way better than legendaries.
-
Not sure if you should be able to turn rares into legendaries but I definately think it should be something as important as that. I was never able to get any in year one and I had a legendary waiting to be ascended . As hard as it was to get for some people (like me) it should be for something more than just a little rep
-
Edited by Vert: 10/31/2015 10:40:07 PMOr used towards motes/faction rep. Something.....
-
No it has a purpose. To ascend year one content.
-
Either that or let it be used to re-roll legendary gear the way glass needles can be used to re-roll exotics..
-
Great idea too much work for bungie. Won't happen.
-
-
Etheric light should be used period.

I have said before that any piece of gear even green should have an upgrade path. This is a good way for it to happen as it uses a item that we still have access to. It should be simple. Green-Blue Cost 25motes of light. This would randomly fill perks and assign int, dis, str values Blue-Legend Your idea is perfect This would just increase play time for me and many others, I love the look of a lot of blue items.
-
you should totally let me into wayward
That's... Actually a really cool idea. But Bungie is all about grinding for new materials so they'll probably just make it convert into motes.
