Etheric Light should be used to make Rare gear into Legendary gear

Copied from #Destiny As of now, Etheric Light is the most useless drop in the game. It has no purpose and does nothing for you; you can't even turn it in to the Speaker for Glimmer or Motes. But, what if it had a new purpose? I was thinking a while back about how nice some of the Rare armor sets in the game look, and how much it sucks that I can't wear them without handicapping myself. And then I thought about Etheric Light; purposeless and useless Etheric Light. But then it hit me; what if that oh so useless Material could be used to upgrade a Rare armor piece/weapon into a Legendary weapon? It would give Etheric Light a purpose and double if not triple Armor Customization. And just for balancing reasons, Etheric Light would only change gear from Rare to Legendary; and not affect Dmg/Dfns values. Upon upgrading the gear to Legendary, its Dmg/Dfns value would stay the same: so that 287 Rare helmet stays 287 upon upgrade, but now you can actually Infuse it to a higher value. You would also get randomized perks put on your armor to account for Legendary gear having more perks than Rare gear. Come on, you ALL know you want to wear a Legendary Seraph I armor set

  • Personally, I'd prefer to see Etheric Light brought into the economy so that players could have an alternate means of infusing their gear to higher light levels (300+). Got an Etheric Light? Pop it into said item to raise it's light level 5-10 points instead of hoping (and mainly failing) at getting the higher light level gear drop from a weekly Raid/Trials run. This would accomplish two things: 1. Players won't be level locked as many currently are because they can't get the weekly drops from the Raid/Trials they need. 2. Players would really be able to start customizing their armor and weapons more easily to fit their play style. Yeah the raid gear is great for King's Fall, but I'd much rather be wearing other gear for General PvE and even PvP. If things keep dropping the way they are it'll be Year Three before that could happen… Just a thought.
