Fix Your Freaking Servers

Why is it after a year of running this game, the server situation is still abysmal? Add some more hardware or virtual machines, or both. Get better server management and monitoring software. Oh, and send error codes that mean something to the end user. Oh and those silly solutions that you offer: "Try clearing your cache" "Reset your router" Uh, no. I pop your game in, Bungie, and I can't sign in. I jump over to Halo 5 and have no problems. Then I run the Need for Speed Demo.... again no problems. Pop in Titanfall, and hey guess what? It works. I sign into my wife's Xbox and have issues with Destiny, but none of her other junk. It's your crap that's broken.

Hi Vile Bastage, It's possible that this is related to upstream ISP issues in the St. Louis area that we believe may be impacting people in both Missouri and Illinois, however we do not have any way to confirm this. Try the steps found in our Network Troubleshooting Guide, and if you continue to experience cattle and centipede errors you may want to contact your ISP for more information. EDIT: Please note that this reply was specific to November 2nd. If you are still experiencing problems after November 2nd, please create a new thread in the #Help forum.

    • Amen, I love how every single error code you go to bungie and its always a blame on our internet or networking setup. I work for Comcast for years, I setup business internet and have 150meg down and 25meg up with flawless signal hard wired etc. Everything is setup to allow any possible Destiny connection through at all times. Every single other game out there whether on pc, xb1 or ps4 runs without a hitch. Hadn't bungie made billions off of us? How is it still such a horrible connection to the servers. It doesn't matter where I play at or on who's xbox its always the same. How about hold off on DLC and fix what you have first, thanks.

      • Nothing beats running through a nightfall only to be kicked at the end of it and having to start over... With all the money you guys re making with microtransactions you will improve your servers...

      • Uhh I never had such a problem on my Ps4. Idk if its that you are some what far away from your Router. Even then, check your ping on Halo. You may just find that its more of the Router than the server itself. The server is fine for a lot of play station users. I really don't know what yall are talking about. Perhaps it's that Xbox may have a slightly differentiate in terms of connecting to the server.

** If you haven't already, turn off the console and unplug it for about 10 minutes so it has time to forget all connection and routing information plus clear the caches. Try it after that. If still similar conditions, do a detailed network report on the console itself and checkout what the DL/UL speeds are, plus latency, plus packet loss, and NAT report. That may tell a story and where to look. Your connection is made up of many connections to various pieces of a large network before it ever gets to Bungie, including (but not limited to) your console, your router, your modem, your ISP, the routing in your area, upstream providers, the routing in those upstream areas, the game service (XBL or PSN), etc - 99% of all players that I and a few others have done detailed investigations with have found the problem before it ever gets to Bungie. Sometimes it is something you or your ISP can look into - sometimes it is somewhere in between that you just have to wait for them to fix. The internet is not as black ad white as people think.

        • Probably because Titan fall has dedicated servers(not sure if that's true). Destiny has p2p (you should look what it is and why it would cause connection problems) which relies on players connection. mainly if your fire team leader internet sux then you will be affected.

Yeah, I've never had these issues until today, when I was right about to go flawless. How convenient. Thanks Bungie!! Sad part is they probably don't even care or won't respond to this because they hate their customers
