Destiny, the 2nd job I don't have time for...

Whomever is out there.
Please realize the #1 complaint about this game is that effort and time drastically outweigh the frequency of drops for your end-game content. Destiny's economy has been nerfed over and over and over again. It takes hours of farming just to upgrade ROUTINE guns, not even the special stuff. A 2+ hour raid can land you with ZERO raid drops and often without any drops that help your character progress. You have randomized the quality of the item without adjusting for the rate of its drop.
It all boils down to turning destiny into a 2nd job. And it's not one that people are going to stick with for the next 6 months if all of these micro grinds continue to lengthen. We're all just waiting for you to start up the pay-to-win XP boosts, item drop boosts, hell maybe even actual engram packs or something from Eververse. It seems inevitable with how much longer it takes to do ANYTHING in this game anymore.

At least quests are good where they are.

Totally agree. Unless you're unemployed and/or have no life, you will never grind to 320 (or whatever the max is/will be). I for one actually find myself getting stressed with the game, when I can't make it online and so my fireteam play the raids through, it means I've got to LFG to play, which is often a soul destroying experience (e.g. people who don't know what they are doing, people quitting if you don't kill a boss on first attempt, kids being told to go to bed by their mums etc...) The game seems to make it so difficult to progress, putting barriers up to progress which you do but are no fun, to make you feel like you're progressing. The only bit of the game I enjoy still is raiding with my fireteam, but one by one they are leaving the game due to frustrations and better games coming out, so it then becomes even more stressful for those that are left.

11 RepliesSo, if it feels like work, don't play. I play 3-5 hours a day (more on my day off) because it's my RECREATION. This is FUN for me. I'm here to kill alien monsters with cool guns, freaking magic swords, and super powers! That I get better guns and swords as my reward- COOL! YOU are the one who set your goal as maxing out your level and getting all the raid gear in 7 weeks. If you had done it, this would be a thread about how you're quitting because there's nothing left to do in Destiny. I feel sorry for the Dev Team. They're really in a no-win scenario. Give the players rapid reward drops, and it's over too soon. Give what they perceive as too little, and they get posts like this. FOR THE RECORD: I think this has been a great year, and I'm going to log back in after lunch to work on my exotic sword bounties. Killing things with swords and space magic. What can be better?

I also played the game for recreation. While the 1st year grind was tolerable, it was real fun - just barely enjoyable. The most fun for me was to help noobs, and to play with s few of my real-life friends. Yes I have had a fairly large "online" friends list, but most of them were on again- off again friends that would ask for help more often than they were offering (and many times just said no.) While I did play things with my friends, they no longer want anything to do with Destiny. I have enjoyed doing things solo, but they have made much of the fun stuff impossible to do alone. So now, if there is something that I want to do, that requires friends, I need to go to LFG site - which I don't do; in other words, I don't do those activities anymore either. It is a lot a job. One that you are paying to do, rather than being paid. I could go on, but.... nah!

Haven't played it for a while now, no regrets. Every day I find something more awesome to do than this grind fest. I keep looking and seeing if anything has changed for the better though but so far no luck... In fact it's getting worse.

Unfortunately the only way to get this point accross to Bungie is to stop playing. Y1 we kept telling them the grind was too much. Their response was that they heard us and they fixed it. Y2 the grind is actually worse and with each passing update it gets worse. We begged for weapon parts and then they nerfed the drop rate even more. They are listening and are actually working to make it worse. The only way to stop this abusive dungeon master act is to not pre-order, not purchase at release. We have to make the accounting team sweat.

2 RepliesThey really do not care. They gave us a decent expansion with no plans on building on thats why no new updates are really going to come out. Of course they wont miss the chance to put in micro transaction. I was optimistic at first when TTK came out.... but bungie does not care. They wont really reply to anything and just make excuses.

Fallout 4. Bloodborne: The Old Hunters. Star Wars: Battlefront. Helldivers: Democracy Strikes Back. Dark Souls 3. Destiny is up against a host of great games this season, and it's only going to get worse. One might think, given the absolute shitstorm that occurred during the infamous nonsense that transpired during The Dark Below (which caused a similar mass player exodus), Bungie would have learned their lesson and never done that again. You would be wrong. Bungie elected to make it even worse than it was at Dark Below, not only negating all progress but making the grind infinitely worse than before. I don't have a single person on my friend list with a light level over 302 because shit just won't drop at all for us. The bulk of us are trapped in the level 290-300 no-man's land where you can only raid or Osiris for better gear, and yet the game likes throwing level 280-or-so stuff at you because that's what you totally ran a barrage of raids for. Whoever's responsible for the new drop system is cordially invited to fornicate themselves with a Sunbreaker's hammer.

Same here. All my friends feel the same. They destroyed all the year one items and work we put in. Feels like my entire year was a waste. Every old item is just a dust collector taking up vault space. They said the new leveling system was different. It's not. It's small pathetic 300 and one digit increments and RNG light leveling. Instead of forever 29 we have forever 3_ _ . Players stuck in some small 3 digit limbo playing hard mode with their 315 class item equipped and oryx gives them two moldering shards and a 314 class item. Thanks. But NO thanks Bungie. We are moving on. Good luck to anyone that stays.

That would have been helpful, then you have your guns that are good at a bunch of things and a few that are godly. All wearables should be interchangeable, so I can look how I'd like. And all of this could be gotten multiple ways, that is all this would have needed. This would have changed a lot....and you're right, this feels too much like a second job.
