Agree with you up until the Bdobbins and Angry Joe part. They actually provide decent arguments if you take your fan boy shaders off. They may come off as condescending but that is because it is fairly obvious what these business do. They aren't these evil monsters but they do pull some shady business practices if not held in check.
A perfect example is Destiny. Nearly every "expansion" involved very little expansion. Even with TTK 80-90% of the content is played in Vanilla areas. It really took them a year to add spawn points and enemies? Seems a little fishy to me. Being cautiously optimistic is what is going to save the gaming industry.
