I see on the forums so much this "no knight strategy" for oryx. from my experiences with no knight strategy it's kinda obvious it's pointless. The idea is to have no knights, but the amount of shit going on with no knight strategy almost guarantees a wipe. Between: Ogres shooting you, and ads it's not the best idea. Since there is no resing there is no place to die and with so much stuff shooting you just doing it with knights is much better. Normally you can kill ogres, run to the aura and turn around and kill the Knights that are left. Have 2 people up on the daughters platforms. The end.
Ever notice how glitchy oryx is on hard? I've seen him clap his hands and not kill, instantly kill on the bombs he shoots at you, no dialouge for bombs, bombs not disappearing and everyone dieing instantly midrun for no reason. Cause of death: ?
My connection to destiny was fine, usually i never see lag.
Everybody has a opinion and that's fine. You don't have to insult me or others because you don't agree.

I just kill everything and it's worked out well so far.
-
I got 2 296 through with No Knights, so yeah, I say that is the superior strategy.
-
Our team has done both strats several times and the no knight is quicker and cleaner. It seems more chaotic, but it's not. I've noticed that teams assigning platforms instead of positions have a harder time with no knight, because they don't have two deducated floaters. Normal strat is fun too, so I'm good either way.

Edited by ArticularAlloy: 11/5/2015 9:54:02 AMIf you have normal down well, normal is easier. I have found no knight too confusing for random teams to get 100% right. No knight is stupid as far as I am concerned. You're totally switching up what you're comfortable with to avoid a red bar enemy that can be killed in one second. Think about it, please.
-
The no knight strategy is kinda dumb I mean seriously? They're red bar Knights! Maybe if they were hallowed then yeah I might consider it but they're not so...
-
The no knight strategy is terrible! Just learn to kill the knights! They're not hard and they spawn in exactly the same places every time! Just practice at it!
-
I second the stupidity of the no knight strategy. If you do not understand the normal way to do it it is likely because you get behind on killing your knight. This is easily remedied by asking the party to show you exactly which Tar Pits the knights spawn from (they have red health bars). I have personally found it to be the easiest as such: 1-2-3 (dynamic) platforms, #4 is assigned for bomb detonation positioning purposes and is the responsibility of someone "in the center" Optional: Fixed (static) platforms where the 4th orb platform guy runs to assist in the center Bubble titan w/ ToM and Blessing in the middle along with the #4 platform person Runner doing the runner thing The titan and #4 mow down ogres (drop your bubble when the slams the platform in the center of the room) and unload that last repeating bullet into the ogres - and you too #4! Get that shield to keep blasting - the ogres will go down just fine. People on the platforms are in charge of your knight. That's your only job aside from detonating the bomb later. #4 and titan in center focus on knight 4. After stunning Oryx DO NOT IMMEDIATELY RUN, kill adds for about 8 seconds or so and then call "bomb" for everyone to run out and detonate and return. You know the rest of the drill. Easy. As people get better gear no knight will die. I've done both - legit is easier truthfully - when people can get over themselves enough to ask to be shown where the knight spawns and for people who reply to not be aholes about it.

No knight is for scrubs
-
Normal knight strategy is easy af, those who choose no knight are just lazy.
-
Beat oryx on hard 7 times. 4 no knight , 1 time normal with 2 dedicated ogre killers on top and 2 normal strat. In my opinion both ways are equally as challenging and really depends on the individuals doing their respective jobs on time. I personally like both but lean towards the no knight because when it's done correctly there is less variability. One key is that the guardians on the platforms sit down on the back and don't shoot the ogres at all so to not draw agro. I also like both because this game is so repetitive and mixing it up helps. The one constant in teams that fail is ego's. People are too worried about their strategy being the better one they do not actually give 100% effort on the host's way and that is what really leads to wipes.

Whichever one makes the King Fall
-
My team usually 1-2 shots oryx with the normal strategy. The no knight strategy is more so luck simply because ogres agro on the other platform "just because" sometimes. Causing a wipe.
-
Both very easy
-
No knight strategy is good for people you know you can count on and do their job correctly. Killing the knight strategy is the one you use when you can't trust your team and/or they are scrubs.
-
For my group and I, personally it feels much easier to just kill the ogres and knights as they spawn. The person on top killing ogres has the job of killing the last knight. We've beat it flawlessly several times and it just seems to be the best strat imo. However, I haven't successfully finished hard raid doing the no knight strat (tried with randoms) and could not get it down. Someone always died and it was much more chaotic. Perhaps if I were to try it with a good group it would be better, but for now this strat doesn't seem good to me at all.
-
Depends on your group. If your runner is a stud, no knight is good. If your team is experienced and has decent gear, it doesn't make a big difference which strat is used. I personally enjoy the standard strat more because it keeps everyone shooting most of the time.
-
Knights. Don't even raid with people who can't do it the normal way. They're the ones always asking for my help though.
-
If you have a solid team, it does not matter. They are both just as easy.
-
Can't find a group to beat oryx himself, get there every week and I've ran both strategies I'd have to say I prefer killing the Knights.
-
LOL...... if you have adds and ogres shooting you with the NO KNIGHTS STRAT...... you are not using the ''good'' no knight strat. i mean, if you have problems with the ogres and adds your no knights strat is done by scrubs, i just did it with an lfg group somehow we had 3 people allive at the end and we almost had oryx killed with just the 3 of us.. should have switched to snipers for the stagger but we didn't do that in time.. second run with a complete random lfg group no knights strat we killed oryx............. i have also done the normal strat with knights... also not a problem.. the problem is the fireteam and will always be the fireteam. people should stop blaming the game.
-
If you cant kill a red bar knight within a few seconds of downing your ogre im sorry but your scrub. Scrubs run no knight strat because they cant survive long enough to kill the wittle wed bar knight.
-
Both strategies are good and legitimate. It's the team you're running with that makes each strategy easy or harder. Simple as that...
-
I laugh at some peoples post. I have read so many that says "normal" is way easier, and "no knight" is for noobs. So, in their logic, no knight is harder, right? If it's the harder strat, how does that make people who use it noobs? If you run normal and say it is easier, doesn't that make you the noob for running it the easier way?
-
Depends on the group I think. Which do I prefer, knight strat.
-
Either way. Everytime I raid theres a new method of killing oryx or grabbing platforms. Just be competent and know your role.
-
I am a firm believer in the normal strategy. Every time I have tried the "no knight strategy" someone would screw up royally. However, the normal strategy almost always works like a charm. When working the normal strategy people would only die because of accidentally jumping into the ship (stupid, I know) or during the shade of oryx part. Also, the occasional Ogre as well... Anyway, Normal Strat for the win!
