The $120 isn't micro-transactions, it's the cost of buying the game and all the DLC to date. Why on Earth should it be okay to spend $100 on a video game when there are many which cost less and are just as enjoyable?? Of course you can spend your money however you so please but that doesn't mean that this decision by Activision/Bungie is okay. They're just being greedy at this point. Some games are F2P and are supported by micro-transaction, like Warframe. Okay, fair deal, the game is free so you instead do micro-transactions. Some games sell you the base game and then paid expansions, like Witcher 3 or Mass Effect. Alright, good deal. Bungie is trying to combine both and we're not even supposed to bat an eye? Warframe is just as deep and complex a game with a far richer roster of characters and yet it doesn't try to pull this stunt. OP did go overboard with the whole husband/wife thing.

  • There is nothing that forces you to partake in the micro-transaction portion of the game. If you do, its your decision entirely. That means choosing to by both micro-transactions and DLC content is a voluntary action, not required to be able to enjoy the content of destiny.... Now if Bungie starts making micro-transactions necessary to be competitive in the content portion of Destiny, then yes, I would agree that they had gone to far. I played World of Warcraft for nearly 5 years and Blizzard had the exact same business model. You could purchase vanity items through micro-transactions, but you still had to pay for any new DLC that came out (not to mention every single DLC they created was at least $60) and many times was just re-hashed content with newer models/forms to it. Bungie/Activision's model of generating more money is not something new or innovative and has been done, successfully, by many other companies. But like I said, the moment micro-transactions become required in order to be successful in DLC/Destiny playable content, that is when they have over-stepped and that is when they would lose my business....
