Before Destiny I was spending my money on stupid shit because I was always bored, and no game kept my attention for more than 2 weeks or a month. I have a monthly limit I put on myself for fun stuff(junk food, alcohol, games, etc). The only time I've hit that limit in the last year was when I pre-ordered ttk collectors edition. I used to hit it every month going out, buying gadgets I didn't need, and all sorts of other forms of entertainment. Destiny keeps me from spending money on bullshit because I'm constantly entertained by it, I don't need to buy that other entertainment anymore. If I bought $20 of silver every month and skipped going out a few times because I'd rather do a raid, then I've probably saved $80+ on entertainment for the month. Destiny has become a cheap form of entertainment for me, despite people saying that it's "so expensive". It doesn't cost me $20 every time I get online and hang out with my friends like it would if I went out somewhere with them. I still go out sometimes, but not like I used to and I have lots of money on my savings account now.
