I see a lot of complaints about the 1000 yard and how it made sniping easier. The truth is sniper rifles have not changed all that much after 2.0. A lot more people are practicing and using snipers now because the shotguns are not what they use to be. The result is that it is a lot more evident how dominating snipers can be and with a bit of practice and patience, you can do well with sniper rifles. If you go through some old forums many people predicted that as soon as shotguns are not as dominate, snipers will take their place.
The smartest thing you can do is to start practicing and using snipers. For the time being, if you want to dominate in crucible particularly ToO, you have to know how to wield a sniper rifle.
EDIT 1: The point that I was trying to get across in the this post was not that sniper rifles are perfectly balanced. Rather, they have not been buffed. More people are replacing their shotguns with sniper rifles. The 1000 yard was given to everyone as a mission reward or it could be purchased from the vendor. If you compare snipers like longbow, LDR, or shadow of veil pre 2.0, you will see that they perform very similar to 1000 yards. Before 2.0 you had 4-5 people on team with a shotgun and 1-2 people with a sniper. Now you are seeing 3-4 people on team running a sniper, so naturally you will get killed by snipers more often.

People shouldn't be able to run with snipers like it's a primary
-
The special ammo hasn't increased, our ability to hoard it has
-
Its the frequency of special ammo in the crucible that's becoming an issue again. I feel it needs to be reduced further
-
My main complaint are idiots going into crucible with snipers and trying to use them in situations that are clearly not suited for sniping. Switch weapons dammit.
-
People who can't snipe are the ones who complain about sniping
-
I mainly snipe, and I can say that snipers have too much aim assist. 1000 yard stare comes around at 54 aa default. The one everyone has from the quest, has Shortgaze scope and rifled barrel. Shortgaze adds 10 aa, while it is unknown how much aim assist rifled barrel gives. I would think it would be 10 - 15, because an increase in range, means an increase in aa. So now you are possibly coming around at 74-79 aa. At this point, the gun is almost aiming for you. My 1000 yard stare has Shortgaze, and Hidden hand. This puts me in the same (or maybe higher) range of aa. Sometimes I hit shots I shouldnt, where my scope was at their neck or shoulder. Aim assist/target acquisition all mean Bullet magnetism. I have watched my own clips, and other people's, and noticed bullet magnetism is highly present in this game. I still think sniping is harder to do than shotgunning, but sniping is getting to the point of being too easy. Everyone and their mom was able to pick up a shotgun and use it back in previous patches, snipers are getting there too. Aim assist needs to be set at a base of 20-30, scopes shouldnt add aa, and there should be no perks to add aa (rifled barrel, send it, hidden hand). You should use snipers because of looks, impact, and handling, not how well the sniper will aim for you. Just my thoughts.

Sniping in crucible < sniping in battlefield
-
This is what happens when the general public in a game rages about blink/shotgun/handcannon. Something will always be there to take the place of nerfed weapons.

Edited by XMalakhX: 11/5/2015 5:31:03 PMThe reality is that sniping in destiny is about as easy as you can get in a game. Other games have pyt in mechanics to make it more difficult while destiny makrs aniping for children. Its the Sniping for dummies od the video game world. No sway, even while moving, strong bullet magnetism, no bulley drop, and extremely low zoom scopes. You can be on the move backwards and head shot a guy two feet in front of you with ease in destiny. That's not exactly sniping. It's stupid.

The best way to beat these new snipers? Throw some things they don't expect at them. I've been practicing sniping with the Angel of light perk. It's really hurting my K/D while I practice it, but when you pull it off it feels GREAT.
-
I think its amazing how I track with my 1000 in crucible, make a low outside chest shot and it hits for crit. LOVE IT!
-
Sniping is definitely easier in ttk but I still prefer my efrideets spear to bad I can't use it in trials
-
I run a sniper 90% of the time, and i have to admit its getting out of control with the AA. Back when i started sniping i use to run praedyths revenge which i believe has a 20 base aim assist the lowest in the game, not to brag but i would win 9 out 10 sniping duels. Then came The supremacy, Her benebolence, Shadow of veils and Now Stillpiercer and 1000 yard and all of a sudden everybody can snipe. For some reason i feel i do a lot better with ambush than with Shortgaze which has been said to add even more AA to snipers.
-
My preferred sniper is felwinters lie
-
False. 1000 yard state has increased aim assist.
-
Sitting at the end of a hallway and waiting for heads to appear isn't hard. Sniping in destiny is a joke. Everybody's head is on the same level, cake shots.
-
I believe it actually takes skill to run a shotgun now. With everyone able to snipe so quickly you can't just rush head on. You have to know how to flank, dive, dip, duck, and dodge to get the kill.
-
See.... I tried making this post and tried bumping the shit out of it in order to get people to realize this exact same thing. Ugh
-
I'm not sure why people don't complain about sniping in halo. It's VERY easy to get headshots. And Halo is considered a super balanced game. Maybe I'm missing something. I don't think sniping should be changed in destiny.
-
Shotguns suck now. No point in using one when I can get easy headshots from a distance. Shotguns need to be buffed if they want to see variety again.
-
Respect to true snipers, takes a lot of skill.
-
I use the Eirene RR4. I think it has an AA of 21 last time I checked. Using it for a while and then going back to that 1000 Tard Stare is pretty crazy. It was so easy to hit head shots, especially drag scopes.
-
What pisses me off is I'm going against somebody and we're at mid to close range already and they're still trying to snipe me instead of using their primary
-
I'll give you the real reason. Blink. It used to be super easy to close gaps. Now everyone fights mid range. Shotguns are still dumb. Even without shot package.
-
The only teams that almost beat my team in trials had shotguns and blink. Just sayin
-
Sniper scopes need to be adjusted significantly. A majority of scopes increase mag by barely a margin of normal view. It's a long range one shot weapon usually/ two shot in most situation. It should be utterly ineffective from 15 yards away and be no competition with a shotgun just like a shotgun does zero damage to someone at the other side of a long hallway. Hit boxes are way too large and generic on snipers
