Tell me what happens when a real life soldier is shot in the head with a really big gun

Nope. The helmet breaks if you use a big enough gun. The guns in destiny are designed to destroy robots and 800 lb. space marines in heavy armor. So yeah the helmet would break. Maybe a lot less for Titans but warlocks and hunters would die instantly
