People are so quick to call someone out for bitching on the forum and everyone seems to forget that this dialogue is what helps things to change with destiny.
Doesn't anyone remember when our vaults all filled up and everyone decided to bitch then. Not to mention the countless other things which have been adressed because the forums blew up. These resulted in much needed changes to the game which derived from the community itself.
Anyone who comments on this saying that OP is whining is clearly missing the point that Bungie's community IS influenced by these posts. It's not only our right, but it is our responsibility as a community to keep bungie honest when we can.

The OP isn't about that though. Bitching to change the game is one thing. Being an overly sensitive man child because DeeJ made a joke in the Weekly is different.

I see what your saying but there's a difference between bitching and voicing your opinion. OP is bitching about the joke made in the update a joke made after deej stated that a change was being implemented. Who care about what he said he didn't use curse words racial slurs or sexist remarks so why take it to heart. He's clearly to caught in his feelings about the joke to even realize they are listening to us. TLDR Our voiced opinions got the weapons part change implemented. Complaining about the joke that some person you don't even know made is bitching.
-
It's called professional communication. When your audience is the size of Bungie's you should make damn sure there is nothing close to insulting language in any of your releases.
-
Wrong the smaller your consumer base the more personal you have to be with them when your audience is the size of bungies you don't have time to deliver heart felt messages all the time nor will they care because such a small percentage will actually read the update as opposed to the massive amount of players actually playing the game. They have over a million people playing the game do you really think they are up at bungie trying to figure out a sweet way to tell us that a change was implemented, no they are working on a way to implement the change. If the entire forum decided to stop playing destiny bungie still wouldn't be hurt because we represent a small minority of people that actually play the game.

Edited by Sparkinate: 11/6/2015 3:15:48 PMAre you kidding me? I agree they can't make a personal heart felt message, but they could've just as easily said something along the lines of: "we haven't felt the impact of the weapon parts shortage our self, but we know that its hurting our players so we've taken the steps to fix this problem." There is no heartfelt personalization, there is no sarcastic insult, but it delivers the exact same message without all the drama.
-
So, DeeJ is not allowed to crack a joke in the Weekly Updates anymore? Get out of here.
-
Edited by SWIFTJUSTICE : 11/6/2015 3:32:49 PMThis guys sole job is communicating with the community. He doesn't even really play the game. He just isn't very good at his job. It also reflects what the higher level executives think, because as much as Bungie likes to say it listens to and respects it's community, its real feelings come out in the way it doesn't fix things and cares solely about trying to increase people's playtime by increasing the grind rather than providing quality content.
-
It wasn't a joke. It was condescension and outright hostility toward the community. He might as well have said the community's complaints are stupid. Condescension, arrogance, and obtuseness are not humor.
-
There are jokes which don't involve insulting your players.
-
If you're insulted by his joke, it's time to go outside.
-
I'm not insulted, but there is a large amount of the player base that is, so evaluating them as a business, bungie -blam!-ed up.
-
Okay so insult me to disprove my argument. I'm sure you'll win a lot of debates that way
-
Edited by : ^ ): 11/6/2015 3:21:23 PMThere is no argument... It's simple, if you're offended by a joke about weapon parts, you need to man up. End of. You know what you SHOULD be bitching about? The fact there are still exotic armour pieces ingame that are hidden and locked until later. That the raid drops less valuable gear than any raid to date. That the infusion system hinders people to the mercy of lord RNG harder than it ever has.
-
This is also something that needs to get addressed. And I hope that when they decide to address it, they are smart enough to use professional and non-condescending language about it.
-
Okay so then they should just release another weekly update saying "anyone who was offended by my joke on the last weekly update should just man up" Would that really fix the problem, or are you just insulting me again?
-
It's only an insult if you're offended. It's a general statement for the most part.
-
And clearly a large amount of the messages audience was offended. Therefore it's insulting. Thank you next question please.
-
A large amount? The vocal minority of the Destiny forums is not a large portion of the player-base. Keep trying buttercup.
-
Edited by Sparkinate: 11/6/2015 3:55:07 PMEven 5% of a million is still a large amount. This is clearly the number one tending thread right now so I don't know why you're choosing to argue a barely subjective fact. This thread is clear hard evidence that people are upset, don't be so naive.
-
Edited by : ^ ): 11/6/2015 3:39:14 PMA hundred people upset is not even remotely close to your "5% of a million." I'll finish this off, I hope you're proud of being offended by a joke about a virtual item.
-
You do realize the logical fallacy inherent in attacking an argument by insulting is author instead of actually attacking his argument right? I have 600 weapon parts in my vault right now, I'm not sour because of weapon parts. Clearly deej's comments offended people and if you don't agree with that you're ignorant. Regardless of whether or not deej was correct, that is not appropriate language for communicating with the lifeblood of your business. You don't hear wal-marts CEO out saying, "I don't understand while you all need this cheap shit, I do just fine without it " it's bad business
