Post on Redit got me thinking. I posted my comments there as well, thought I would post them here too.
The idea of Map Voting was posted, many different opinions were posted in response.
Very simplified break down:
- NO, don't want the same maps over and over due to voting them in.
- Yes, stops players from being stuck on a Map loop due to RNG
To the folks who say no, because of map loop due to favoritism I ask how is that different than now? I seem to play same 3 maps all the time with a 4th thrown in if I stick in long enough, 3 hours ish. (My repeated experience in Strikes, not as much in PVP)
Some solutions to the problem:
PVP Maps
(Favoritism pick loop) - VERY, VERY, easily solved with some matchmaking logic. eg. Once a map is selected it is dropped from the RNG pick list for 3 rounds. No map can be picked for ## rounds, etc.
By implementing Voting and logic around matchmaking to stop favorite maps from looping Bungie could let us play all the PVP maps all the time. Come on, we paid for the content, I want to play all the damn maps.
Strikes
PLEASE implement Voting for Strikes. As much as I missed the Sony "paid for" Strikes on my XbOne, I do not care to fight the Undying Mind again. Each strike session seems to revolve around 2-3 strikes over and over and ... until I quit due to frustration over fighting old bullet sponges.
If Voting is not an option please implement a pick list that drops the last played strike until all strikes have been completed. Same can apply to PvP maps.
To expand on this idea:
Each player has their own playlist, as you run through it, you get matched with those on the same strike (PvP map), can't find a match move up one strike (PvP map) on your list, and bump the missed strike (PvP map) up the list (it is now the next on your list). Once played it is struck off the list until you have done all of them. Each player starting a Strike (PvP) playlist gets started at a random point in the "master" list enabling easier matchmaking.
One more, a PvP mode that is random PVP playlists. I enjoy all the PvP modes/playlists, I don't like the process it take to switch between lists.
Also keep ALL PvP types available. (Statistical data may prove one is not worth keeping, lack of players playing it. In a Random PvP playlist all would be viable, and give player a chance to try them out.)
