After reading this post, I went back to the bungie news, thinking that, surely, there must have been something amiss. And frankly, I was appalled. I've enjoyed Destiny since the Beta, seen nerfs and boosts, changes additions and plain old screw ups. But never, ever was I as insulted as I became when I read this post. It was belittling the players for a valid concern, openly mocking the shortage of materials to be had by pointing out the 1600 plus those on high have; and to top it off, a middle finger to all of us by saying they'll change what they like, when they like it. I am an older gamer; and my career was in public relations for some higher profile clients. And I can honestly say, this is not a tactic I, nor anyone in my profession, would take. It is nothing short of insulting to the Destiny client base, and presented as almost a dare for players to leave the game.

  • I have to say I read it with this tone the first time I read it. I am also an older gamer and sort of new to this forum stuff as I have got very attached to Destiny. But..... There was a tone in the news report I also read a mail from another bungie employee which was of a similar tone. In fact he apologised for that mail almost as soon as he wrote. I run my own business and think I read between the lines and understand employees reactions. This seems to me that the bungie guys are under pressure from someone on high. I don't think ttk has been a success for bungie and there for Activision. Only a small percentage played TOC. The loot system has added to the grind even more and with the lack of exotics on year two most after a month or so will have most of them or will have the ones that they can be bothered grinding for. The lack of really standout legendary weapons. I mean I still play with my bad juju as an example. With new titles coming onto the market I think it will be difficult for destiny to hold on to there player Base I have noticed a real reduction in my friends who are on... this has the knock on effect because it has been positioned as as a purely team based game and the end content can't be done or even attempted. I think the destiny social experience has been good I can't think of a game that I have put as many hour into, possibly cod wow. For my two cents the game needs a quick rethink or it may fail. As the above problems are self perpetuating and will lead us to the end. Destiny is not for the casual gamer as it too hard to find other like minded people to play with. So that leaves the hardcore players and they are bored. And so the circle goes on. However I think that the news segment was poorly written and maybe he was joking ether way the undertone was there. It shows the danger of who an email or text can be miss interpretated when read by different people. Something needs to change fast bungie or this could and I stress could mean the end. Good luck Bungie I hope you can do it time as I do enjoy the game

Oh, it was a dare for sure. I also love their perfectly timed story about having 5 million more "registered" users. That's a PR stunt deployed when the company sees true, legitimate concerns and unhappiness amongst base as this tactic makes people feel they WON'T be missed or that everything is peachy. They are worried deep down. Look, my father is a Senior PR(A) and the stuff he tells me about his views on this company and it's next level base manipulation and user creation makes me shudder. It's all in plain view.

  • Have you considered, that after reading the TC's post, that your opinion shifted, and you read it in the same tone that the TC did (TC = Topic Creator, in case you aren't familiar or it isn't clear *smile* )? As I replied to the TC, this is likely Deej's attempt at a joke, seeing as how that's the way I saw it. It's also entirely possible that the whole 1600 plus comment was meant to either hint at why the change was made, make a note on how easy it used to be, or possibly make note that his buddy really is running out of the surplus he has. As for the reservation to the right to make changes, I feel this is less of a "screw you" and more of a "If we think this isn't working, we have the right to change it back." I've been playing games since a young age, and done a lot of research on them. Bungie has handled Destiny far better than a lot of games that have come out in the past, even in the past year. For reference, Daikatana was a mess, Duke Nukem Forever took so long that it was rotten by the time it came out, and there were huge issues with Assassin's Creed: Unity and Watchdogs (Feel free to do some digging on these titles). Can you imagine how outraged we should be if what happened with ANY of those games happened with Destiny? By comparison, we've been very lucky with this game, if you can consider it luck. Anyway, to get to the point. Deej's report can be interpreted a few different ways. You can look at it as "screw the player base, we do what we want," or "If we think this isn't working, we'll find something that does." Don't jump to conclusions. If you're certain they're dissing the player base, look into it. Find a pattern, and expose it.

First of all, while I do find your points valid, your tone is reflective of the condescending arrogance that surrounds the game *smile* as does the implication that I cannot think or form my own opinions. I grew up programming word based MUDs on DOS in basic. I was there for Daikatana and the endless delay of Duke Nukem that led in disappointment. Point being you were making valid points until decided to become condescending and turn this entire situation into a measuring contest. Get over it.

  • Even reading it for the first time, I tough he was being a dismissive jackass. As far as your point about destiny getting more care and attention from the deva than other games.... lemme ask you this: Any of those other games make a claim to produce a 10 year franchise? Any of those other games have the same pseudo mmo attempt going? Any other game have a constant paradigm shift with each new *required to play* dlc they put out? With a game like this, much like WoW, yes it's going to get a lot of attention from devs, but that doesn't mean that some of the things they do or don't do cannot be baffling. There are many issue people have with the game, but instead of even remarking on them or just a quick hey this is what's going on with some of these little things that cause a big stir, we get updates/changes we don't want or need. But it's all good because they're watching the forums, right?

  • We should feel lucky? You can argue that we all got our money's worth but the fact remains that bungievision is trying to get us to play as long as possible with some shady practices. The rng, the limited amount of currency you can get on dailies, weekly missions; xur shows up once a week to give people hope that he might have something they have been grinding for with no luck. This entire game is designed to get you to play a certain way for as long as possible. Why else would there be no trade when the rng is so terrible? My friend did so many activities that reward exotic items for the entirety of year one trying to get the hawkmoon but never found one. I found 6 of them. Why shouldn't I be able to give him just one? It's because they designed it this way. Their mindset is that if people like my friend saw this super cool weapon on people like me, they would have more incentive to play. It's not right.

  • Look, I feel you on the RNG. I got 2 Hawkmoons and a buddy of mine got none, while he got 2 Mythoclasts and I got none (bear in mind that I did do the hard mode raid to try to get it). But I can understand why there's no trading. Have you ever heard of the term "twinking?" In terms of gaming, it's when you give high-level gear to low level characters. At least one game I played was infamous for that in my teens: Phantasy Star Online. I could get a couple of high-level extremely rare items (including a mag, which was basically a stat-boosting ghost you could feed) and I'd be able to speed-run my first 50 levels in about a day, compared to the week it took my first character. Sure, weapons and armor may have level caps in Destiny, instead of PSO's stat caps, but it's too easy to provide a player with everything they want to use right off the bat. Some people might argue that it would be more unfair that Year 1 Xur, considering they could get a treasure trove of extra exotics and legendaries by trading crap gear. And yes, if you spent the time getting to the end of the game, cleared the raids, and got exotics, then you got what you paid for. Currency caps aren't new to games either. It provides a certain level of currency control. Bungie may have set the bar low for their currency caps, It's effective in keeping people from being too wealthy, and keeps the economy where they want it. One last thing. I've been asking people this all morning. If you aren't satisfied with how the game goes, why do you play? It's a question worth answering, but not for me. Answer the question for yourself. :)

  • Oh i got my moneys worth alright. If i didn't enjoy the game why would i be playing? I do enjoy it but i question certain practices. About the trading though: I don't like that people jump to conclusions with the trading. This is why we are a community (though unfriendly) that makes compromises. The trade would only be available after playing x amount of hours, and you can only trade with someone who is on a list. Let's say you add people to a list, and you can only add up to 3 that, after a certain amount of time, you can give/trade 1 item with, and then that timer resets. Now, you can only allow this one trade in the screen where rewards are displayed. This means that you need to have played the same activity and be the same level required to wield such an item. One more thing. I.love.phantasy star online. I didn't know you can do that with mags, but it sounds fun. If you can help someone, then why not? I tried to make a hamburger mag, but i couldn't figure out what to feed it.

  • This. I'm older too and have worked at several large corps. None I know of would dream of treating their customers this way.
