Only the people who care enough about this game will actually go to the website or their handheld device and read the updates. It's meant for the hardcore player. The player that has invested a large chunk of their time into Destiny. Not the once in a while when I have time player. Those players are the weekend warriors. You know those players stuck with 1800 grimoire score.
I can't speak for them because I don't know their case. Most players who frequent this forum will most likely have read the updates. It's not about being "smart". It's there for everyone to read. It addresses the issues that people on the forums have complained about, therefore putting it in the updates.
What would you do if there were no forums? The only updates from them you'll have are the patch notes. Which are way more important than some words talking about an issue they'll address in the next game update.

The weekly update is for patches.....
-
They have a separate section for the patch notes...
-
Which is what you should read....

I don't get what you're trying to say. The causal player does not care about the patch notes or the updates. My friend is a casual player and he doesn't read about the patch notes or the weekly updates. He only plays whenever I am on to help him. He couldn't care less about the updates. There is a difference between him and I. I read the updates and patch notes, he does not.

Because he doesn't care. That's what I'm trying to say, if you don't car don't read I really couldn't care less.

But does that make him not smart? Or is he unaware? Your base of the argument was people not being smart enough to read it which only applies to the players that actually play the game every week.
