You paid for a licence to play this game; you do not own any part of this game. [i]They[/i] own the game, and if they decided tomorrow that from now on our only weapons would be a t-shirt cannon and a [i]slightly[/i] sharp stick, then they have the right to do so. And the only thing anyone could do about it is to stop playing.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking any personal stance here on my feelings about anything. But I'm getting tired of seeing these posts saying "I paid for this or that"... You want to know what you paid for? Go read your licence user agreement.

No, I didn't pay for a license to play this game, I don't know anyone on Earth who payed for a "license". I PAID for the game itself, and all the content that was advertised to come with it. You're sorely mistaken in every part of your post.

Edited by Palmtop x Tiger: 11/8/2015 3:08:01 PMI cannot really debate with you when you don't understand the difference between ownership of a product and ownership of a license (which might be a physical copy or digital) to use a product. I think you might understand better in these terms. Have you ever bought a computer program? Like Photoshop maybe. You buy a disc (or nowadays you can probably get it digitally but let's stick to the physical disc as I'm assuming you have a physical copy of destiny). And that disc allows you to install and access the program... But you do not own that program. Unless you're a share holder in the company that owns the program then you in no way, shape, or form own that program... And based on how they conduct their user agreement (that you agreed to when you purchased and installed their program) they can alter the program anyway they see fit within that agreement. They can even change the agreement! (Ever notice sometimes when you log on to destiny it asks you to accept the new agreement-- they've changed parts of the agreement many times over now!) I hope this clears this up for you a bit.

PR is lacking, clarity and content of weekly updates are infuriating, and even patch notes have questionable wording... My straight up opinion is that there are some definite shady business practices being employed and a not-so-undertone-ish undertone of general lack of f_cks given about what we, the consumer, really want. And the artificial extension of gameplay, grind versus reward ratio, and overall creativity in game mechanics are-- frankly-- depressing. Do I play the game anyway? Yep. But my expectations are permanently nil, and until I see a change in the direction these companies are taking, I will not throw money at my screen for any game they have their hands on. All that being said, there's a divide between what the community wants and what is both practical and good for their business-- because you have to remember that they [i]are[/i] a business. And many people in this community do not know how to properly convey their opinions. Furthermore, regardless of whose fault it is, many in this community have a sense of entitlement that is not aligned with reality. Basically the situation is a fluster cuck.[/spoiler] TLDR: The only thing anyone can do is respectfully and thoughtfully deliver their opinions while trying to remain practical and keeping in mind that they are dealing with a business... And take responsibility for the money and time you give this business.

Thanks for the quote. They did state that we would receive a half dozen exotic armors per class however, and I don't remember a post, PSA, tweet, quote, ANYTHING that what they were advertising mere weeks before had been sliced into a third.

Because they have no concept of how communication actually works. I think the players are doing a good job on this front, while Bungie remains mostly mute

I'm sure they knew we players would want to know that two thirds of the armor won't be available at launch. They have hundreds of employees, it certainly came up. They might have lost sales if they had announced that prior to release, so they didn't. They didn't value the revenue loss they would take as worth it, and they were right. There is a surprisingly small amount of people talking about the deceit. Forum posts are all about RNG and sunbreaker.

You will, like I said to the other guy, we aren't even quite two months into year two... They will come as they have always come-- in groups, over the course of the year. As someone who was here in year one, none of this surprises or offends me.

And you're entitled to that opinion-- one which I think many people share. I personally think it would be boring if everything was there on day one. I think if you want to express your opinion to bungie, and stand any chance at influencing them, you need to make a concise, reasonable post expressing your opinion... Not an irate tantrum about how you [i]own[/i] this or that. That is not the way to go about anything.

Exactly. I'm not talking about the legality of it. I don't care that I bought a license, I know that's how games work. I care that I paid for something and it wasn't delivered. If they had stated they would roll out the content, I wouldn't be as angry. They lied by omission. I don't think anyone expected when they purchased the taken king for a huge chunk of it to be missing.

I've been playing since beta. Never before has something of this level occurred in Destiny, so I don't know what you're speaking of. As they did not expressly mention the content would not be included in the base expansion, I and every other sane individual considers this business practice false advertising. We understand that we have no grounds legally, they could charge us a hundred dollars for the next expansion just to find out on launch day that it's nothing but a single zavala mask and everything else is time gated. We wouldn't be okay with that. Would you?

I appreciate your intelligence but I myself am sick of your argument. Legally yes, they have us by the balls and are LEGALLY allowed to do whatever the -blam!- they want. Morally, however, 18 exotic armor pieces were advertised and a third of that was delivered. That's false advertisement and in any other form of media or even business would be considered illegal.

And even in that case they would probably be covered by some technicality in the licence agreement. But legality aside... We're not quite two months into year two... If the weapons/armor you're referring to are part of year two as a whole, then you really need to slow your roll.

What the -blam!-ing -blam!-... You aren't worth arguing with. I'm not conceding defeat in our conversation, there's just no point in arguing with you as you have very different viewpoints then me. I'll just go to a restaurant and not complain if it takes them 8 hours to make my food. I mean, they didn't say WHEN I'd get it. Or I'll go buy fallout 4, just to find that half the map is blocked off. I mean, since they didn't mention it, and I only bought a license to play the game, they can just add it in in 7 months right? Unless otherwise stated, it is assumed that advertised content will be part of the expansion it was stated to be in, and not in an update 5 months down the road. It's called lying by omission.

morality and legality do not intersect, unfortunately. I'm not necessarily "ok" with those practices, I've just come to accept that's the way it works
