Ironically, Bungie's survival plan will be their undoing
Over the past year and with each DLC I've been increasingly surprised and disappointed with the decisions Bungie has made. Be it the main issue of chopping up original game into numerous DLC's or the incessant nerfing and "balancing" of weapons and classes or the ever worsening RNG system. All totaled it makes for a colossal failure from a product excellence/trustworthy business model perspective.
For a while it was just odd to me, but the more I thought about it and the more I learned it began to make sense. They had a great beginning, one that had us all eagerly anticipating the game's release. But since then there has been a never ending run of bad decisions, legal actions, blind greed and aimlessness that has left them in an interesting predicament. Having lost most of their original story writers and developers... those who made it what it was supposed to be... they (I think) are desperately trying to milk the original content for as long as they possibly can. They try to extend and inflate play time on this limited content by subjecting us to an RNG system that is horribly broken. Their incompetence is made obvious by their incessant "balancing" patches. This would be acceptable in a free beta version of a game. However, to have us pay for content/weapons/class abilities only to decide mere weeks months later that it's OP and in need of removal or nerfing is just pathetic... I don't think I need to give any examples, though there are easily a dozen or more.
In a nutshell they are short on ideas and talent and are trying desperately to keep us so busy chasing the carrot that we don't see it for what it is... a turd on a stick. In their effort to keep us chasing our tails they have instead inspired us to look elsewhere. I know I am.
