You know if you count the faction exotics there are technically 18 exotic armours in the game.

... I technically cannot argue with this. However, there are still multiple exotics of the 9 we are referring to (the actual ones) that were advertised in the trailers. And I don't even think BUNGIE would be as stupid as to try to include those.
