As much as I would like VoG and Crota (maybe even PoE!?) to be relevant again, lore wise it makes no sense. The [b]ENTIRE[/b] Taken King is based off of the idea of Oryx coming for vengeance. Also, the game has literally said we beat VoG [b]TWICE,[/b] in the Wolves' Gambit and Paradox missions. Same with Strikes. The idea of the Echo Chamber is to revive the Nexus. In the mission Cayde's Stash, we see the corpse of Sepiks Prime.
Tl:Dr Lore wise it wouldn't make sense.

You are aware that there is an entire new quest line that has you go back into VoG to kill Atheon, right? That alone blows your entire post up.

Lore-wise, killing Oryx over and over again makes no sense either.

Oh, you want relevant lore. Literally. Well then, remove all bad guys from the game and patrols. Because we killed them already. Now, isn't this game fun. Yes, it's only common sense to keep everything playable with difficulty sliders. Otherwise we're all stuck debating why we should keep playing the few things we have.

Are we going to pretend destiny has a story? Ir Yut is alive and well in the quest to steal crota's soul eventhough we kill her before we kill Crota. Taken in the Valus strike makes no sense because that happens way before we even kill Crota. Also touch of malice is a weapon we get after killing Oryx. Lorewise we shouldn't have the weapon when killing Oryx

So? It doesn't make sense that we killed Atheon over a year ago and I went down to the vault last night and the cheeky little twot was still down there.

In the style Destiny is, he's there because in this game you need to grind your ass off every boss. The difference now that should make them not playable now is that the game has pointed out in game that we have defeated them (See mission Paradox).

Vault of Glass with taken enemies sounds okay, lore wise. Maybe there could be a kind of restorative mind for Atheon or the Templar?
