There's a difference between paying for ownership and paying for access.
When you pay for a can of soup, you own it.
When you paid for Destiny, you only own the disc and case. Digitally though, you paid to own a license. Neither of these mean you own the game itself so your point is moot.
The only other part your money paid for was access, potential or immediate notwithstanding.
