"we...we did it" ghost exclaims in a surprised tone. "the taken king is no more. we can finally rest at home for now". with the taken king defeated and the system in a quieter state, guardians begin to relax more and ease their patrols.
the speaker paces back and forth in his study worried about the guardians, praying that a new power rises from the darkness amd forces them back into the fight before it is too late... but his prayers go unanswered.
slowly, one by one guardians who would normally be out patrolling the cosmodrone or meridian bay start to look back in deep thought about their actions and their triumphs. they start to realise exactly what they have been doing and word starts to spread.
after a few days groups of guardians and grouping up and seeking knowledge and reading up, with the help of the warlicks and each of their ghosts, on each races background and motives. a titan suddenly drops to his knees as if sobbing silently to himself and when asked what was the matter by the hunter at his side, something in the hunters brain clicked into place and also in each and every other guardian almost simultaneously.
before long guardians are wandering the battlefield but not fighting. warlocks are in a state of deep thought trying to justify the recent findings but their efforts are futile. titans are coming up against cabal emplacements and recon teams but sparing them. hunters are finding larger fallen patrols but turning tail and walking away.
the speakers worst fears have been realised. guardians have discovered that their never was a meaning to their fight. it was just one evil power against another. thiusands upon thiusamd of innocent lives corrupted by each of the evil manipulaters. innocent blood on every "guardians" hands. one by one guardians turn in their weapons to banshee and remove their heavy armour. "no more" they all say and walk out into the wilderness... alone with not even their ghost at their side.
the tower is empty now. the vanguard... alone, holiday... alone. the cryptarch sits down and starts to sob gently to himself.the countless ghosts left behind try to console him but to no success. some ghosts chased after their guardians some realised the truth thenselves and simply shut down others chose to stay at the tower. those who attempted to pursue their guardians had mixed stories but none are recorded amd reported apart from these few.
report 1
"i found him wandering the desserts of the african wilderness. his head was down shoulders dropped and hanging low. analysis suggests a very heavy burden on his heart, one no guardian has ever had to carry before. i thought best to leave him alone but he turned and saw me. his reaction was a simple sigh."
"i suppose you want to follow" he shouted back to me "well come on then but know this it will be a lonely path"
report ends.
report 2
"i searched for my guardian for many weeks on venus and found her perched on a cliff overlooking the entrance to the vault. i saw a tear roll down her cheek as she whispered to herself "im sorry". after this she jumped down from the cliff and walked up to a vex unit which surprisingly did not respond with force but stood waiting for the guradian. she placed a hand on the shoukder of the unit and walked off. i chose not to follow her. the bex unit was left looking confused but somewhat sad but it shortly returned to its patrol.
end of report.
final report to ever reach the tower
i followed my warlock exo straight into the heart of a fallen ketch. as i hide i saw them walk straight up to the kell and before the kell could grab her she started to do something i have only witnessed on luna in the hellmouth. she had studied this thoroughly and was now able to put it into practice. the kell stood silent. as i saw the light draining out of her body the kell lowered his weapon and so to did the rest of the fallen in his throne room and as her light left her it formed a ball of light in her hand. she didnt wince not even once and when she was done she extended her hand and offered her light to the kell. as soon as the kell took this kight from her hand her mechanical body fell to the floor in a crumpled heap of lifeless metal.
tell me guardians what do you think about this alternate ending to ttk sorry about the length.
