Making a game M (or 18+) doesn't immediately enrich it's story. CoD is M and has laughably no important story, ever. The game I always like to harken people back to when they talk like this... Shadow of the Colossus is rated T. One of the best stories ever. It's not the rating that made an underperforming game. It was just Bungie.
Sorry Bungie, love you guys
• Majority of games that have a great story are mature rated, it's rare to see teen rated games to have a great story and there's a reason to that.

  • That is just a completely incorrect statement. I will say that Mature games are able to go more in depth with serous issues in their stories, but what you're saying is that everything Nintendo puts out, SotC, Chrono Trigger, Braid, To the Moon; all those games with AMAZING stories are nothing because they aren't rated Mature. The day someone looks me in the face and says Call of Duty has a better story or writing than Portal is a dark day indeed.

Cod has a better story than portal... Lol jk roflmao but in DESTINY'S case it is better for them to move on to a more mature rating, it's story can be enhanced to be better. Edit: it's not necessary for a game to be mature rated but it's also easier to make a better story as there are less restriction to what you can implement etc. Betrayed and more mature emotions.

How then? Because what the story was going to be... with the traveler probably being evil etc etc, all that stuff that was taken out... that wouldn't have made the game Mature. Ocarina of Time has a moon that was going to destroy everything and it was rated for kids. Bungie cut its story to the core. Adding story doesn't make a game Mature. Adding gore, or excessive language, or... lets just say "unwanted adult situations" (since the forums won't let me write the word) would give an M rating, but how would that improve Destiny in any way?

  • You do realise betrayed is not allowed on teen rated games as its a mature concept so the traveler being evil Or even the speaker being evil could be concise red betrayed also they could've had villains who actually spoke and swore to make them seem more evil instead of gibirish and the darkness to what we still don't know how it took over or where it came from and why it exists also the fact that bungie are either being lazy or just took everything out to be sold as dlc. Have you seen uncharted? Mass effect? Mgs? The last of us? All mature rated games and one of the best story games in popular opinion of all time. Though I agree a mature rating doesn't make a game great but it gives the developers more options in what they can do and hopefully make a good story.
