Dubai isn't progressive at all, it's the capital of an Emirate which essentially employs slave labour. It's a terrible place. But you can't damn innocent people based on their country's failures, that isn't just.

And before you say they are just normal people and afraid for their families. So were the Protestants during the reformation. So were the American founding fathers. So was MLK during the civil rights movement.

In Syria, some people stood up to the government, and now we're years into a civil war that has displaced and killed millions. You take such a high ground without any justification, and I'd love to see you scathe an innocent family for their inactivity, as if you've done anything for your country. It's horrible, really.
