Sure hotels and tourist attraction places know English but what about other parts ? Also what language do you expect Americans to choose as 2nd language and don't tell me Spanish because of Mexicans (no offense to anyone)

That's an interesting assumption that I was only in embassies and tourist attractions. I have been to less developed countries as well. There are usually a handful of people that speak English, but not as many as developed areas. My second language was Japanese, but most choose Spanish, Italian, and French, but not because they are into another language. It's simply because it's required through the education system. I didn't actually circumvented the language in school by taking a performing arts, then learned Japanese on my own time. Now currently working on Hindi and Tamil.

Funny thing is I don't watch Bollywood films, anime, or Japanese dramas. I mostly enjoy languages in general. I hate feeling like something is lost in translation simply because we don't speak the same language. Maybe I should check some out though. I do love Miyazaki films, and there are some amines I have enjoyed such as, Samurai 7, Samurai Champloo, fist of the North Star, and Ninja Scroll. I just find languages fascinating. I work in a hospital so I have languages all around me. It's the best.
