Get rid of aim assist on snipers?
So Ive seen a number of hate comments about snipers, "nerf that!" No more luck in the chamber!" All that [b]jucy[/b] stuff.
So I thought in order to get rid of this hate(though people who snipe might get upset) [b]get rid of aim assist[/b] I know that's a big game changer
Casual: but pyro how do you expect us to get headshots?

Sorry to be blunt but, if you snipe in most other games you won't have a problem with this change and sniping would take a lot more skill and we wouldn't see as many in a games. Just a thought, and buff fusion rifles damn it
No damage, change, no DAMAGE drop off, just get rid of aim assist on snipers
Sign if you want this change and of you don't [b]please[/b] explain why we should keep aim assist in [b]snipers[/b]
TL;DR: Snipers are cried a lot about aim assist, so get rid of it to reduce the hate of the casual gamers and piss off the snipers who [b]rely[/b] on aim assist

Edit1; okay some people have a point maybe we dont even need to get rid of AA maybe just tone it down were its not really noticeable and reduce flinch so you could compete with other guns like pulse rifles, autos, since they have AA

1 ReplyPeople really don't have a clue how aim assist works in this game. They also don't realize the affect it would have on snipers. Before anyone says I'm one of those guys who rely on shit like 1k yard stare, I prefer very low aa snipers, like efrideet's spear...pretty sure that thing had like only 10 aa so yh...bye

Aim assist doesn't curve your shots it slows down your scope near a hitbox.

Aim assist is a necessary evil of console shooters. It's meant to compensate for the lack of accuracy and control afforded by a mouse on PC.

Edited by JBO: 11/19/2015 4:32:55 PMYou can't get rid of AA in console shooters. Plus sniper AA in Destiny doesn't exactly give you free headshots. You still have to be able to line up with the head very quickly. All its really doing for you is essentially giving you a tiny bit longer of a reaction time to pull the trigger. If you do a quick drag shot but end up aiming at the chest guess what you're going to hit? AA isn't going to magically point your reticle at the head.

3 RepliesDude... Do you know how console shooters work? You won't hit a goddamn thing without it. Ever. And guess what? If you're good at sniping in other games, you're good at using the aim assist that every single console game ever made has had. Plus, year 1 had high aa, but people were too busy bitching about thorn/tlw to notice. People only mention it now because they have nothing better to complain about.

12 RepliesSeeing you don't have much experience with snipers I'm sure you don't really understand what aim assist does to them or how easily it can be used against you. It slows the reticle when scoped near the enemy. This is on every weapon on every console fps to my knowledge. It is admittedly higher than normal in this game & could be tuned down about 10% imo. Snipers simply aren't the problem you & every other shotgun primary user (with more shotgun kills than every weapon & ability) believe they are in this game due to one fact. To get a ohk you have to hit a headshot (excluding litc). It is a precision weapon that is all but impossible to use in cqc, difficult in medium ranges, & sometimes outmatched even in its optimal long range by scout & pulse rifles.

It has nothing to do with snipers. It has everything to do with blink being nerfed and people who relied on it not learning to avoid snipers in the first place.

lol while I think snipers should NOT have aim assist values like 86, getting rid of it completely and no one is going to hit anything. Every gun in destiny has aim assist. Yes, even shotguns. One of the most popular one has 70 aim assist. Yep. More you know.. I certainly would like to see proper weapon balance and that includes reducing aim assist on snipers. They should all be between 10-50 at most.

I couldn't care less. I tend to snipe better with the lower aim assist snipers for some reason.

Now, go up to a enemy who has a pulse rifle. Try to snipe him while he is shooting at you. It's funny people complain about it now lol! In year 1 all snipers had higher aa! Can't win with people on the forums. After the whiners cause snipers to be in the ground, shotguns will be dominate again. Why would you ever snipe when it's way to hard to do? Guess I'll start using fusion rifles until people start throwing a fit about those too! Can't win.

This is a console game. With console controllers. That require console aim assist to be good.

Id rather just have the ability to disable aim assist rather than get rid of it completely. Tbh aim assist is actually in a lot of games. They just have the default set low.
