"Our elders teach that long ago, the forest ruled these lands. The trees walked and talked and the plants ran rampant with power. According to this same legend, all life on this planet arose from the same tree. When this tree died, a single sapling was left in its wake. To protect this sapling while it grew to its prime, the forest grew around us, leaving shrines at the four corners of the forest. These shrines are said to be the key to the hidden path that holds the sapling. If each one is given a specific offering, the path is said to open." He drinks more tea. "Also, it is said a chosen one will arrive, and only they will be able to progress into the hidden path. What that exactly means, I do not know." He takes another sip. "The ones who came before you, each took a different entrance, North, East, West, and South. I fear they've met a terrible fate. Please do not end up the same."
-
vaaxius drinks the tea with him, thinking about what he said "Do you think this chosen one would be the only one able to survive the forest?"
-
"Possibly. Others translate it quite literally, as if it's in the person's blood." He sips again, making a comment on how the tea is so good because it's procured from the leaves in the forest. "Anyway, speaking of blood, that is what must be offered at those shrines, according to the elders. Apologies if you still plan to pursue your mission."
-
"I've been through worse. Say, what's your opinion on the forest?"
-
"Only ever been far enough to harvest tea leaves. It's tranquil for that distance. There's a man in town who said he'd been to a shrine, but he's a drunk and not many believe his words."
-
"Hmmmm, sometimes the madmen speak the truth. It's happened before."
-
"You might be right. He's probably over at the bar."
-
"I'll go see him, lets hope that the serums I have can sober someone up."
-
"He's probably not too drunk yet. It's only 4:00."
-
"Great, I'll see you again sometime. Thanks for the tea." vaaxius finishes her tea and walks out the door, heading to the bar
-
"Anytime, drifter."
-
"I'm a baroness, I hope this isn't a permanent goodbye." vaaxius smiles as she walks away and into the bar
-
Being early, only the barkeep and one man are there, talking. They both are a bit surprised when you enter. The man is dressed in different apparel than the others around town, almost like a mercenary.

The bartender speaks first. "New in town?"
-
"Yup, i wanted to speak with him." vaaxius points to the man who she thinks is the drunk
-
The drunk looks up. "Who would ever want to listen to my ramblings...?"
-
"Someone who believes that the mad sometimes know more that a scholar."
-
"Sit down then." He looks to the bartender. "Get one for her as well."
-
vaaxius sits down with him, her shotgun at her hip

-
"Yup, I'm also a baroness."
-
"Interesting. So am I." He looks down. "So was I."
-
"The man I spoke with said that you have been to one of the shrines, is that what stopped you from continuing your line of work?"
-
"Yeah." He takes a drink. "It was the Northern shrine."
