This isn't about next gen or last gen. As a matter of fact to the veterans of this game, these rewards are kinda crummy. This is all about trying to bring in new players and get that green. Sure, an all black shader would be nice, but veterans already got that with Old Guard shader (and the pattern looks so much better). So basically, it's a lesser Old Guard for new players. The Sparrow looks pretty nice....but sadly it's stats are that of a normal legendary. Again this would only benefit new players that have never done any of the raid before hand and not force them to buy blue sparrows with their legendary marks. The swords are just reskins, 220 reskins at that. Most people here have the old swords at 300+ already, so who does this benefit? Once Again new players get a free legendary weapon to boost their light up. Even the new emotes are lack luster when compared to either the TTK Collector's edition or even the ones you can buy for silver. It is honestly just a way to give new players a new emote to play around with. Most veterans have much better emotes.Even the emblem just looks like an odd rip-off of the Moments of Triumph emblem as well. Honestly this refer-a-friend system is just plain garbage. It doesn't reward the sherpas or veteran in any real way for helping new players. Bungie is just trying to mimic a free-to-play model on a game that clearly isn't free-to-play. Even if it were they still did a horrible job with this event. Most free-to-play gives the higher level character some kind of great item while helping lower players along the way, but here it's pretty much up to the higher level character to help the lower level coast through most of the content all the while getting rewards that, while good for new players, means absolutely nothing to them or just good for collection purposes. In short, this event is much worse than even the Halloween event and to be honest I am quite scared of what micro-transaction mess we have waiting for us in December.
