This isn't to stir up hate though I'm sure it might. I just want to know why you guys personally pre order games or why you don't pre order games.
I personally don't ever want to pre order because it's been shown that pre ordering games allows companies to half ass their product and with pre order bonuses, well pre order bonuses are just cut content for people who put down money before the game comes out not knowing if it's any good or not which of course isn't fair in the slightest.

I'm a sucker for physical collector's items
-
The only time I preorder games is when I know I will purchase it, regardless of reviews, and even then only for the special editions that I am sure would sell out at my local stores.
-
If i have money at the time yes I will preorder a game if it is a game I'm excited for. If I don't I don't and wait till I do. The extra content stuff is not really worth it. It's just fun.
-
If its a popular or highly anticipated game, then yes I will most likely pre order. I'm not really interested in the additional content (most pre order content is useless crap anyways), I do it to reserve a copy at the store.
-
I buy all my games digitally now, so if it's a game that I know I want to buy on day one no matter what, i pre-order it a day or 2 before release. That way I can have the game already downloaded for when the clock strikes 12 and begin playing immediately.
-
Only games I preorder are ones with collectors editions.
-
Pre ordering games is not a very intelligent thing to do, it is ruining the video game industry. Think about it... Games aren't nearly as good as they used to be. We are giving these companies money without any produced product. You guys need to cut it out
-
I buy most of my games used only preorder limited editions. I preordered my elite controller also glad I did cause there hard to find in store around here.
-
Edited by Sapphire: 11/28/2015 6:28:48 PMI only pre-ordered 2 games ever. Gears 3 and Halo 5. I won't pre-order anything unless I know for sure I'm going to get it. Like, I know I'm looking forward to the Division, but I think it might turn out to be like how Destiny was. I don't think it will, but I'm not putting all of my trust in it. So, I'm probably going to wait at least a few days...
-
Idk about everyone else but I'm definitely preordering mass effect 4.
-
Unless you got a friend that works at GameStop, you can help them elevate themselves in the company... And your not losing any money, that goes towards the game, and you can get it back whenever, but not from your friend, cancels hurt yo.
-
This is becoming more and more prevalent
-
I preorder a lot of collectors editions because I really like the plastic junk that comes with them.
-
Preorder the day before so I can have it loaded when it unlocks. I find it extremely hard to believe that companies are sitting in their headquarters days before release asking each other how much they can chop out. Now as someone else pointed out, correlation and causation are not the same. If some of these games are simply crap when they release or developers made it part of their strategy to continue to develop, supporting that with paid dlc.. That's possible, but not a direct result of preordering. I can't imagine enough people even preorder that far in advance to make a dent in decision-making strategy. Preordering and dlc is likely here to stay. Find out how to stomach it or stay frustrated. :-)
-
I'd like to see someone's evidence as to why pre ordering ruins games. It's as if all defenders have never heard the saying correlation =\= causation. There are many reasons a game comes out chopped up, or buggy, none of which even relate to pre orders.
-
I try to avoid it, but then i get so hyped that i do at the last minute.
-
In the case of fallout 4, no clue why I did, Just Cause 3, however, is Six bucks cheaper of you do preorder on steam.
-
Everything I buy is digital. So I pre-order the day before release for "bonus" items.
-
I'm still preordering dark souls 3
-
I've stopped pre ordering there's just no reason for it it's not like every copy of fallout 4 is gonna sell out
-
Because they're stupid.
-
I preordered the Witcher 3 only because they released it on Poland time instead of eastern time
-
Beta access/other pre-order perks mainly. If Zelda U or Twilight Princess HD came with some extra goodies I'll probably jump on that shizzle.
-
For fridges, statues and crushing Rebel scum.
-
"Buyer beware"
-
I always buy limited editions so I have to preorder
