show me those cold hard numbers if that's true? You do realize Activision announced that Destiny more than made it's money back anyway so who cares how much it cost to make. They sold enough in the first month to make up for it. No what happens is simple if I'm a developer and you want me to build something for you but I'm kind of lazy I just make you think that what I'm gonna make is really hard so I quote you $800. You don't know any better so you say okay and I'm a good salesman so you think you're getting a hell of a deal. Meanwhile, I really only should have charged you $200 for what you're getting. BAM instant profit and I can just sit back and relax with all those other hours you think I'm working. Exactly what Bungie is doing? This game is some technological wonderment that has never been done before so that changing a weapon skin takes 10 days to program. If every other developer can produce better content faster, patch faster, and charge less then what's Bungie's issue? If it really is that the engine is that difficult to program for then they really are just crappy programmers who built a bad engine. Great pieces of software make things easier not harder.

The engine (to my surprise also) actually is pretty crap in the development department. There was a post circulating some time ago about the pitfalls of Destinys development. In that article it stated that it literally takes hours.. like damn near 8 hours just to load up all the backend data to make a single change in the game.. include saving over the network and debugging every time you change something and this thing becomes a grand mess.. Destiny has more problems that just the introduction of weak content.

  • yeah I read that article and that's the problem, this game should have been delayed so that they could have spend more time on the engine and the dev kit. They basically shackled themselves not only with their engine but also with the last gen consoles. I mean the problem is all the best people at Bungie left and I doubt they have a ton of the best talent in the business there anymore. It's sad but it's what happens to developers that get too big for their britches.
