I don't know why you'd think that. People have been doing this type of thing forever, in and out of gaming.

Exactly! Like all the people who invented drinking games. Imagine if a deck of cards, a large plastic cup, and a few ping pong balls were never introduced to ALCOHOL!!! People need to take things beyond their intended scope to be able to enjoy the full potential. This "Survival" mode is awesome and should've been implemented with the game.
