It still should have been left as a CHOICE for the particular gamer to make. If enough year2 weapons were created that were interesting and fun to use, people would have tried them. If they actually created new weapons, not just reskins with castrated perks, players would use them. Regardless of whether players chose to remain with the old or move on to the new, it should have been left to their prerogative. I prefer to play a game the way I want to play it, not the way the developers WANT me to play it. More variety is always better than less, for most players. I understand the argument that they made year1 weapons to powerful. I understand that they removed primary burns to push players to try the new guns. But if you change the mechanics of a fight you could have made new perks on new weapons that were sought after to make specific encounters easier to manage. But by removing year1 gear and content all they did was limit what the gamers that play the game had to do. Would it be fun to run an updated VOG hoping to get the updated VoC or FB?

  • My point was if it was a choice, how many would simply not make a decision? How many would stick to what burnt them through year 1?. As you say, they made year 1 guns too powerful....when laid up against each other there would be no contest. They had to cap the damage level. That was the only way they could blanket fix the year 1 gun issues, clean slate. The trouble is people loved what was powerful and resent leaving them behind. I am sure they could add in a year 2 etheric light at some point, once everything is more even, not for now though. They haven't taken anything 'away' though, those guns we all loved just aren't powerful enough to kill new endgame enemies in their current state, the rest of the game is still there...nothing has been removed, it all still exists. Its simply the case of nobody wants to play it anymore because people only seem to play destiny for the rewards at the end of an activity, not because of the activity itself. If you or I want to go play VoG, Crotas end or whatever, we can, with our old gear even if we fancy a challenge. Many don't, simply because they won't get rewarded for it. I play xbox games when I want some downtime, do I feel I need to be rewarded for anything in that time, because its my time I am putting into it? No, absolutely not, gaming is the last priority in my life, its a game... anyway, back on topic.. It would amazing to run an updated VoG, thats the one thing I think is missing, the old raids being up at 290 light or whatever. Would it be cool to get an updated VoC or FB? Yes, it would (seeing as both have avoided me) but my post was about the fact that people believe the old raid guns and gear should have carried over straight away, be instantly infusible to the new levels. I don't think that would help the game at all, personally! I would happily go hunting again if it was implemented that way, no issues at all chasing a new Praedyths Revenge or Vex Mythoclast but going by some of the stuff posted on here its not worth Bungie's time. The salt about being 'forced' to rerun old content for 'old' gear would be horrific. Its bad enough already.

  • If they had put effort into making new amazing guns? Plenty of players would have used them. It's a cop out to say "year1 weapons were just to good", what do we have to look forward to? Weapons that are crappier? That's just not a good game plan at all

  • You know I keep seeing people saying that Bungie should bring out better guns and perks, but no one gives any ideas. So what would the better guns and perks be in your opinion? I agree that people would be using the same stuff over and over. I know that if I could, I would still be running the VoC, but I also understand that this is Bungie's way of forcing us to adapt. We hate change by nature, so most would be running the same stuff. This is just a new meta and we are adapting to it. I guess I understand it better because I have played MMOs (Before anyone says Destiny isn't a MMO, I know, just saying why I understand the change.) where top of the line gear is useless in the next DLC and you have to rework for the best again. If not, most people would be running Year 1 stuff in Year 10.

  • The point still stands, regardless of your spin, why remove ANY content? Is LESS content better than more? Is LESS choice better than MORE? In your opinion, you are happy with LESS choice? So they year1 weapons were all nerfed, right? Why bother nerfing them if you aren't planning on bringing them forward? Bottom line, In gaming more is always better than less.......except if you consider the games price points. Especially when you can no longer play content that you had previously paid for unless you continue to pay more for less
