This happens in nearly all persistent online games (that have stuck around). Its to allow new players to catch up and not feel behind. Keeps things fresh with new stuff to acquire Go play some other game then if you cant adapt to a system thats been around for about last 10 years.

this MMO excuse may work only on people who never played one , i played DCUO and FFXIV and ESO , but none of these did these disrespectful item reset practices , in destiny once you finally obtain items you want through stupid RNG you dont even get time to enjoy your toys before they wipe em for me the variety of relevant weapons at my disposal decreased with each "expansion" , kinda ironic as they should expand and not limit the game no MMO that takes your stuff away every 3 months , before you even get time to have fun with your obtained items , not counting overkill nerfs inbetween , real MMOs have story and content so they dont need to resort to this shit , yes they add new stuff but its a natural RPG progression , not forced reset like in destiny , there you move on to obtain new and better items in destiny they take away your items and force you grind just to get the same stuff back you already had or replace your items with worse ones , sometimes they change the color of the items lol
