I've been throwing this around on a few other forums topics and had a few people request I make it its own topic to possibly draw some attention. Here it goes
Before TTK came out and we were getting updates about what was to come to the game, we all remember hearing that dreadful thing "All previous end game gear will be left behind" and "All previous end game content will be co sidered legacy."
I understand why Bungie left guns and gear behind. I was happy that we would all get a new round of weapons so we can get off of our Fatebringer, VoC, Black Hammer snd Gjallarhorn crutches. There were 2 completely new DLCs that came out and everyone still used VoG weapons and gear, and to some point most of the Crota weapons and gear. Was the gear and weapons from House of Wolves, excluding trials, garbage? Ohh yea..but all in all, you have to leave previous gear in the past whenever you get to higher levels caps and new content so there will be interest in newer things that come out.
That being said, we can still do thr old raids and Poe....but there isnt much reward from it being that the light levels for things arent any better. So what I was thinking Bungie could do, so we could have more content to do (even if its still technically "Old Content"), was to add something to the weekly reset thats similar to how the Nightfall works.
Basically, with every reset, there would be an additional NightFall type of event that would consist of one of the old PVE end game missions. There would be modifiers added to them and the Light Level would increase throughout each stage of it, just like KF Heroic. It would rotate every week from VOG, CE and POE35. They could have the modifiers added to make it more challenging, possibly add some small new mechanics, tweak a few things and maybe change the enemies to the Taken for some portions, or have it be random enemies just like heroic strikes work. The chest that usually only drop Materials can possibly drop different things like recip, stolen or antiquated runes, Three of coins consumables, moldering shards, random keys for the Dreadnaught, glass needles, strange coins, motes of light, weapon parts stacks, armor material stacks, glimmer stacks or marks.
The tricky part comes from what do the bosses drop. Although a lot of people want to see year 2 versions of the older raid guns, that isnt going to be a smart move for bungie being that the got rid of elemental primaries. They can drop the older armor with no problem really, but it would have to drop at that light level and just have the option of infusing from the 150 light level cap to make it take more time to get to a higher level cap or even drop at a light level of 50 to make it even more challenging. So what they could do for the weapons on boss drops are:
-Drop the older weapons without elements on them at the current RNG light level
-Drop the older weapons without elements at a 0 light level and also have some sort of modifier on them that make them take longer to upgrade light levels differently than the current infuse percentage (Maybe cap it to 1 infuse a week)
-Drop the older weapons in increments that would have you have to get so many parts in order to complete the weapon
-Drop a part to the weapon that ends up having you go through a quest on trying to get the gunsmith some blueprints to make the weapon for you (Like how sleeper was
The boss drops can also drop the same items i mentioned that would be dropped from the chest
Or they could just have each boss drop a random Nightfall Tier reward/Weapon from every boss.
They could also easily add a VoG, CE or POE35 ghost shell, class item and artifact with no problems
I personally think this would be one of the best ideas that could be added. It would add a lot more to the grind, but it would be well worth it for the reward at the end. It would add so mucb replay value to the game and have many more things to look forward to at the rest.
Im not doing a TL;DR to this because it had to have some depth to the explanation.
Let me know what you guys think and add some more things that should possibly be added to this idea.
