Do you have any tips on how I can get my settlement attacked? I want to see how good the defense I've built works.
I have read that your defense has to be lower than your food and water. Did that, still no attacks.
Currently:
58 food
52 water
32 defense
My settlement (Sanctuary Hills) is a few days (real days) old and I've never had a single attack. Never got the message "You failed to defend..." or something. Never found any dead bodies. Never lost a settler. It's absolutely peaceful.
Edit: Okay it finally happened. 3 super mutants attacked my Sanctuary settlement. Don't know if it was because I increased my water to 150.

I hope they fix the whole 'your settlement is under attacked' blurb. It should go under miscellaneous or something. It's on your screen for like 3 seconds and gone, you have no idea your shit is about to get f'd up outside of that tiny message. I don't know about you guys but I miss it about half the time.

690 def

Edited by Derp Herpula: 12/11/2015 2:17:21 PMI don't think sanctuary can be attacked. It's never happened for me. The sunshine trading gets attacked by super mutants pretty often
-
They need to make a tower defense mini game that you access via the home screen
-
My Sanctuary got attacked twice in the beginning. It had the same defense it has now 32. After that it seems they just resort to kidnapping my people
-
My sanctuary Hills settlement has never been attacked. My defense for SH is at 135 which is way higher than any other stat. Freakin settlers won't stop getting kidnapped so my defense isn't working... Have 24 whiny bitches there so what do I care if I lose one to the super mutants cooking pot. Free food and housing means SH will always have a line of welfare freeloaders.

Sounds boring.
-
Same I only got attacked once and a place with 0% happiness
-
I built in the Castle and the Brotherhood of Steel frequently attack due to a certain follower...
-
Pretty sure a settlement can only be attacked if any of their stats are in the red. It happens to me a lot since I've completely neglected all my settlements besides Sanctuary so far.
-
Here's a tip: never build on that croup manor place, each time you go there there's always like 6 ghouls sleeping there even if you've cleared them out before. It's annoying
-
I somehow got 2 deathclaws to attack me (even though I thought only 1 could attack) basically killed 60% of my defences and most of my civilians and literally 5 mins after that I got attacked by raiders (and I was on survival yaaaay) piper got killed and I lost all my defences while I was low on caps too
you get how this ended ^
They really dropped the ball on settlements.

Anyone can tell me what the range of the shotgun turret is? Is it about the same range of the shotguns you can carry or is it increased?
-
Stacks consist of like 5 enemies. Not worth waiting for either. You're not missing out I'm at like 160 + for each resource
-
The thing is, the higher your defense the less you will be attacked.
-
Well every time I hear one of my settlements is under attack I fast travel over, and every time I arrive it says I have successfully defended my settlement. Except the on time I went, there were no enemies I waited for a day in 2 hour spurts, nothing I leave the area failure to defend. Which means all attackers died before I arrived, yet if I don't go it's considered a failure to defend. If my defenses can handle the situation without me being there, why is my presence required for success
-
sanctuary cant be attacked because it is a story based settlement
-
Is there actually a consequence for not helping a settlement? It seems like the only reward for defending one is the xp you get from killing the attackers and I've never really noticed a reprocussion for ignoring one
-
A pack of 4 death claws attacked my sanctuary as soon as I fast traveled there.
-
My Sanctuary has never been attacked, but I find it strange that people keep getting their friends kidnapped. Lol
-
Go build tier 3 water purifiers in the creek and raise your water over 300 without raising your defence as much, the higher the resources the more likely a attack will occur

Edited by Sjur Eido: 12/9/2015 2:37:31 PMThe Castle was attacked ONCE for me. I had over 400 defense at the time. Now? Now I have 1000+ defense at the Castle.
-
Well I have 365 defense

I got attacked at the Castle by 10 or so Super Mutants. It was awesome, one of the coolest experiences yet. I have the holes filled, so the main entrance in the only way to get it. They came down the path that leads to the main gate. 2 shotgun turrets in the hall and 5 heavy turrets on the wall. All of my settlers ran up on top of the wall to shoot down at them. Dogmeat ran out the front door like a boss. Cait fell off the side and started using melee. I just sat back and watched the carnage, fixing turrets when I could look away from the epic battle.
