If you see the clone wars tv series, Like all Sith their once in a life time moment is to kill their master and become a Sith lord himself... And (spoiler alert) even he still couldn't match up Darth Sidious, and after seeing Count Dooku in action I bet he could defeat Darth Maul, Double Edge is meant to be intimidate and overthrow your enemy with a faster sword movement. Obi-wan could've never defeated Count Dooku... Darth Maul is practically equalivent to Venturess, based on all the evidence. Count Dooku because of his curved hilt was a Master Duelist...
