I don't know, I just thought of it.

Here's how it would work:
[b]Basic Gameplay[/b]:
-You can only use swords and grenades (inb4 SoT spam)
-You could choose between 4 modes:
Skirmish: 3 vs. 3
Gladiator: 1 vs. 1
Rumble: Free-for-all
Royal: Basically, private matches.
[b]Basic Mechanics[/b]:
-spawn with full sword ammo
-heavy ammo crates spawn periodically (every minute and a half)
-maps switch between the different PoE arena maps (or other maps if you don't like those maps)
-countdown timer for five minutes, you are ranked for most kills
-no assists (assists don't count, only kills count)
[b]Special Mechanic[/b]:
-Overtime/Sudden Death
•If anyone is tied for a place in kills after the time ends, Sudden Death activates
•If you've ever played a timed SSB match, it would be exactly like this.
•1 minute to kill other opponent(s)
•able to use all weapons and abilities in this time
•invincible snipers spawn (10)
•Blind Thrall spawn (5)
•everybody is set to low (red) health
•ranked according to the order in which you died, or if you didn't die, you are ranked according to how much health you have left at the end of Sudden Death
•If everything fails, and the remaining Sudden Death survivors have the same amount of health left, then GG, ranks are decided by random.
[b]Rewards[/b]:
Rewards would be a guaranteed 320 piece of gear (exotics included) for first place, a guaranteed 310-320 piece of gear for second place, a guaranteed 300-310 piece of gear for third, and a guaranteed 280-310 piece of gear for fourth and below.
If you're lucky, you could even get a 280-320 legendary sword for being third place and up.

Reduce sword damage so they aren't instakill but still very lethal so people will implement blocking, no health regen and you're set.

This has definite possibilities, don't forget monsters a la Star Wars arena scene, a different boss encounter weekly, and survival PvE mode, where waves of harder and harder mobs are released a la Borderlands 2.

If they found a way to combine Relic from Vault of Glass with an Arc blade sized short sword, I'm sold.
