Yeah, I was yellow bar. I have almost no doubt that lag had some small part in this. But how does lag make me kill myself?

What I think happened was because the way your screen jumped up I think was because the other guy landed the head shot and you simply had a delayed death. But on the other hand if that is the case, the enemy was not credited for the kill. Really it doesn't matter as long as your team won and walked away happy.
