Let me start by saying that I have absolutely nothing against the game mode itself other than its lack of matchmaking, but unfortunately the players who participate in Trials continually destroy the game for everyone else. I know it's a radical suggestion to remove an entire game type because of player behavior, but I'm not sure anyone is going to want to keep playing the shell of a game that Trials players leave the rest of us.
The problem is and always will be nerfs.
Since Trials inception, it has easily been the single biggest contributor to nerf posts on these forums.
- Thorn was essentially erased from this game because of Trials.
- Hand Cannons were AR'd because of Trials.
- Pulse Rifles just got boned because of Trials.
- Sunbreakers were probably doomed anyway, but the loudest cries for nerfs... Trials.
And as bad as all those were, now I'm seeing posts crying that Trials matches aren't fair because of MIDA and Truth.
Seriously go find a Chinese hell to burn in if you're going to cry about MIDA and Truth. The point of this game was supposed to be becoming more powerful and finding more powerful and awesome weapons. MIDA has always been a great counter to any "God weapon" in this game, not because it's OP, but because it's so well balanced and versatile from mid to long range.
But rather than find counters like MIDA, rather than grind for your own "God weapons" if you feel you can't compete, rather than get fracking good, we've systematically destroyed every weapon and class that was ever fun in this game.
Go shoot a goddamn Fusion Rifle. They're complete garbage. Collateral damage from the constant dicking over of weapons, all to "balance" one stupid PvP mode that almost no one plays.
Someone post those pathetic numbers they put up a month or so ago about how few players actually compete in ToO and the infinitesimal number that have actually gone to the Lighthouse.
So we're going to have all our weapons ruined in not only PvP, but PvE as well so probably less than 5% of the player base don't cry? I just don't get your thought process here Bungie.
I can tell you this though, there's not one reasonable or remotely valid reason to nerf Truth, MIDA or Scouts and if that unbelievably stupid thought crosses Jon Wisnewski's mind then it's time to pull the plug on Trials.
And to anyone who enjoys Trials, I'm sorry but there would be no one to blame but yourselves. Better you lose your game mode than be allowed to keep dragging the rest of this game down with your incessant crying for nerfs.
EDIT: Just to clarify because I'm being accused of having put up nerf posts #realbalanceisnotbalanced

Edited by Zurreal: 12/15/2015 7:11:45 AMWell - In Bungies defense though, they're as of now pretty close to a balanced PvP. Personally I see no given weapon of choice (I'm the kind of player that will always use whichever weapon that gives me that little edge, I will always be looking for that - but now I just can't find that given choice). I find myself varying between most of the primary types. Bungie aren't stupid though - They will not (and have never) blindly nerf something just because someone on the forum cries about it. I do honestly agree with the direction of every single adjustment they've made so far (some of them have been too much though, upwards or downwars - but the direction has been right). Removing Trials is a bad idea though - the reason people from Trials is heard most is because Trials is the only crucible mode were winning / losing actually matters.

The real problem with MIDA isn't MIDA itself, but that it works so well with the Radiant Dance Machines to turn hunters into lightspeed killers and so to counter, I propose a nerf to hunter run speed so they need this combination to keep up (joke, calm down). Seriously though, MIDA is probably one of the few guns that has been balanced from the start and needs no reworking, and nerfing it would just be stupid. Not sure that removing trials is the answer to shutting the nerfcallers up (and this is coming from a non-trials player, and sorry to anyone who saw nerfcallers and thinks I'm ragging on stormcallers, this is not the case), but the constant calls for nerfs every time a new weapon rises to the top (after the previous nerf is effected, of course) does need to stop, because it doesn't just ruin crucible.

Edited by Enderium: 12/15/2015 4:53:31 AMMida = balanced Truth = a heavy weapon used in one round (so it's balanced) Snipers = broken and need a slight adjustment (but not to damage or aim assist) by unscoping if headshot . Shotgun = can't nerf them anymore without making melee more useful. Fusions = what did they ever do to Bungie after their first set of nerfs? I honestly think I could solve all of the balance issues if I had a seat of power...

Just admit u suck at pvp and get over it scrub When there is no counter for sthing that means its op and needs a nerf Thorn and lw were the best examples of this Yes bungie sucks at balancing but no they should not stop doing it just cuz u arent good at trials
-
Been awhile since I've seen you, but every time I do your posts get more passionate and less analytical, not a bad thing, I believe you are simply getting worn down by this game, it's community, and by bungies appalling management of it, as always good post
-
As long as PvP exists, nerfs will continue forth. It's inevitable.
-
Trials is the only reason I play anymore :/

Trials is here to stay

Ok well I understand where you're coming from definitely. I, for one, always have and always will love trials. I love the idea of the most competitive Fireteams joining together for great rewards. Being on the forums I also see all the same posts of people trying to do trials and whining that they aren't winning. I also hate the fact that guns are being destroyed because of it. Though I don't wanna see trials gone for good. The problem is everyone's ego makes them think they themselves are good enough to go 9-0. When in actuality you look at their k/d and they weren't lighthouse bound either ways. I don't wanna see MIDA or scouts nerfed either (not really a big scout guy myself) but even IF they removed trials, Iron Banana and normal crucible would see more weapons nerfed regardless. The facts lie in pre trials days, when AR's were destroyed, shotguns were nerfed like 3 times, and fusions began their slow downward spiral. Idk man I don't think there's a way to stop the nerf spree that has hit this game.

If they just banned the exotics from pvp from the beginning ,then they could could have left them alone. The exotics are the reasons behind every nerf , there will never be a balance in pvp, as long as they are there, keep dreaming. They will never drop trials, its like the raid , they are there little babies, in both modes there are the same kind of players ,elitists, the people with the same ego. I dont get Bungie, just stop nerfing , after more then a year of so called balancing look were we are. Cheers

Super-bump!

People like you are just bad at this game. Go find a new meta, ffs.

Edited by RedKain243: 12/15/2015 5:51:15 AMUsually your posts are great but this is just silly

Thing is, there's never going to be "balance" with weapons because someone is always going to lose to something and think it's the gun and not the gunner. They'll never realize it's because the suck, they just want the meta to adjust to their horrid skills.
-
You don't like nerfs so you want Bungie to nerf the entire game? Maybe they can remake Thorn just for you? No one wants to play a PvP game mode where only one or two guns actually has a chance of winning a match. It's about balance. And if Bungie hasn't balanced the guns correctly blame them. If you want a special crutch blame yourself.

I agree and disagree with what you have stated. I Agree: I agree that because of trials, people have been nonstop crying for nerfs to every weapon from Thorn, TLW, Red Death, shotguns especially now with their 4th or 5th nerf, snipers, and I had seen people demanding a nerf to fusions, which now are completely unusable. Also lately, because of the new matchmaking, it is extremely hard for many casual teams to go flawless because if they are on their 8th win with no mercy and aren't the greatest PvPers, then run into a group of hard scoping bitches in their spawn, refusing to move out of their spawn unless they have their supers, and lose. This is. This situation is not fun and has happened to me and my brother numerous times in the past. As a result of events where teams at in the back with snipers now in trials, all you see are nerf snipers threads, demanding them to be nerfed out of existence along with fusions. There are many reasons trials should be removed but... I Disagree: If trials were to be removed, many people who don't like the raid and only play for trials will leave because they have nothing they like to do. Many players who enjoy the rush of close matches would be very disappointed if trials was removed from the game and some would argue that Bungie would be "stealing" content from the players. All in all, I am in the middle on your topic, but you did bring up some good points. Bump

Yeah, cutting out half of the game's competitive side of PvP will bring balance for sure right?
-
Also, but removing Trials... What do you think would happen? That everything would magically get better and improve because the competitive PvP is gone? Wrong. Iron Banner, once again, would take its place. These posts are so idiotic. As long as Bungie caters to every little scrub in PvP there will NEVER be an end to nerfs. Ever. Because there will always be a new "go to weapon" that has an advantage. As long as there is that weapon the it'll never stop. Want the nerfing to stop? Well, the only way it will is if there is a standard loadouts of primaries (common) [or just one universal primary] that have identical kill times if you hit all precision shots. No more starting with legendary or exotics. They will be power weapons picked up on the map. There will be one support weapon (IB, Invective, Plan C, etc. but have limited ammo) on each side of the map of spawn and one power weapon (Truth, Railgun, Gjallarhorn). They will be set to appropriate timers. Other than hit box tweaks the damage and lethality of the weapons will stay the same. Why? Because they're power weapons. But the difference is, not every single person is running around with them or picking up heavy crates at the same time. THAT is balance. As long as everyone is running around with weapons that have ridiculous perks it will NEVER end. Period. But nobody wants what I said above. Because that's Halo. Or "COD" considering the loadouts. Absolutely nothing will change by getting rid of Trials. The players will simply go back to regular Crucible and Iron Banner.
-
Literally the stupidest post I've seen. Lol
-
It's not only Trials man. If all nerfs were based strictly off Trials 1000 yard stare would've been removed from the game. Nerfs are based on all crucible
-
Nah, it's the kids that suck at everything PvP that ruin the game. If they can't use their crutch guns to win or get a kill then they cry nerf. Also, it's not just trials. Iron Banner has/is the place you see the most complaints about guns. Especially during the Thorn meta. So, overall, I disagree. It's not the Trials players that complain. It's the people who suck at PvP that rely on meta weapons who get outgunned that immediately blitz the forums complaining. Because decent to good PvP players can adapt to whatever weapon is used.
-
Edited by x813 Kris Rollzz: 12/15/2015 4:43:12 AMWhen I used to play Destiny, I felt it was more Iron Banner that dictated what balance issues needed to be addressed. Trials just exacerbated the more severe issues (i.e. Thorn, Final Round Efrideet's, The Ram, etc.) because in that game mode, a cheap kill is still a kill. More on topic: Iron Banner for Y1 and the one IB I played from Y2 always displayed the strongest weapons. Not just in damage values, but also what was best in the meta. It used to be hand cannons (specifically the exotic ones), this year it's been pulse rifles. tl;dr Iron Banner is a perfect showcase of what are the strongest weapons and that's where most of the complaining starts. Trials only makes these complaints worse as each death is more costly than a death in Control/Clash.

I've come to a different way of thinking on this... Bungie is changing the meta to keep both game modes "fresh". It's the only thing that makes nerfing an entire weapon type anything close to sensible. Bungie has dropped hints to this several times in their notes, referring to giving each gun "their time in the sun". They also speak of "variety" and making other guns "viable". It's a forced rotation through their weapon set, and it forces you to play their content with multiple setups (thereby extending play on the thin content). So... don't blame PvP, IB, ToO, or any other PvP style of play. Bungie is doing this for their own reasons.
