Let me start by saying that I have absolutely nothing against the game mode itself other than its lack of matchmaking, but unfortunately the players who participate in Trials continually destroy the game for everyone else. I know it's a radical suggestion to remove an entire game type because of player behavior, but I'm not sure anyone is going to want to keep playing the shell of a game that Trials players leave the rest of us.
The problem is and always will be nerfs.
Since Trials inception, it has easily been the single biggest contributor to nerf posts on these forums.
- Thorn was essentially erased from this game because of Trials.
- Hand Cannons were AR'd because of Trials.
- Pulse Rifles just got boned because of Trials.
- Sunbreakers were probably doomed anyway, but the loudest cries for nerfs... Trials.
And as bad as all those were, now I'm seeing posts crying that Trials matches aren't fair because of MIDA and Truth.
Seriously go find a Chinese hell to burn in if you're going to cry about MIDA and Truth. The point of this game was supposed to be becoming more powerful and finding more powerful and awesome weapons. MIDA has always been a great counter to any "God weapon" in this game, not because it's OP, but because it's so well balanced and versatile from mid to long range.
But rather than find counters like MIDA, rather than grind for your own "God weapons" if you feel you can't compete, rather than get fracking good, we've systematically destroyed every weapon and class that was ever fun in this game.
Go shoot a goddamn Fusion Rifle. They're complete garbage. Collateral damage from the constant dicking over of weapons, all to "balance" one stupid PvP mode that almost no one plays.
Someone post those pathetic numbers they put up a month or so ago about how few players actually compete in ToO and the infinitesimal number that have actually gone to the Lighthouse.
So we're going to have all our weapons ruined in not only PvP, but PvE as well so probably less than 5% of the player base don't cry? I just don't get your thought process here Bungie.
I can tell you this though, there's not one reasonable or remotely valid reason to nerf Truth, MIDA or Scouts and if that unbelievably stupid thought crosses Jon Wisnewski's mind then it's time to pull the plug on Trials.
And to anyone who enjoys Trials, I'm sorry but there would be no one to blame but yourselves. Better you lose your game mode than be allowed to keep dragging the rest of this game down with your incessant crying for nerfs.
EDIT: Just to clarify because I'm being accused of having put up nerf posts #realbalanceisnotbalanced

Edited by Forsz: 12/15/2015 6:22:55 AMDefinitely a bump; not to remove this game mode entirely, but to remove the flawless aspect and culture that's been developed. Rewarding players for elitism. It's absolutely been the most corrosive element introduced into this game. All "balancing" revolves around it. Promotes cheating at its worst. It's a fun mode, but a huge fail for bungie overall. It's driven more players away than those it's kept. Time for this to change. Bungie is totally blind to it's player base and core gamers.

Your posts make me happy ily

The problem is perception. Some guns are supposed to be OP, but a game full of people using it tips the scales. People hop on a bandwagon piloted by thier favorite twitchtard and before you know it there is a rampant overuse of gun ______ in every crucible playlist. Bungie nerfs a class of guns to curb public opinion away from something. Your comment about thorn shows how COMPLETELY HYPOCRITICAL your topic is. Thorn is only useless in trials... It's still very potent in regular crucible... Pulse rifles are still dominant pretty much everywhere. You should act like trials doesn't exist, before making a post about removing it. Some of the things you say make me feel like you don't actually play destiny... Get off the damn forums and go see for yourself how asinine some of what you claim really is.

Edited by Killlerschaf: 12/15/2015 6:26:14 AMTrials is what? 10% of the PvP population? I am a PvP player since day 1, with a combined 9 days logged in the Crucible. I played PvP from lvl 5-20 on my first char, completely ignoring the singleplayer, until a Vex Mytho killed me once too often, and I decided that I need a better primary. It should also be of note that I don't play Trials. I went flawless on a my second or third try, and didn't play the mode again afterwards. 3vs3 elimination is not an enjoyable mode for me. I only played Control, IB and Rift matches seriously (meaning that I probably have 50 combined matches in other playlists). All the things you list here, needed a nerf. It's irrelevant if the Trials population wanted them or not. Thorn together with TLW (I mean, I liked Thorn, I'll be honest, and I was better than a lot of other people with it), were destroying the balance in 6vs6. The Sunbreaker was a much bigger problem in 6vs6, than he could have ever been in Trials. Pulse Rifles were better than Scouts at range, and killed faster than ARs close range. They needed a nerf. All these things were just as much of a problem outside of Trials, as they were within Trials. When one weapon type performs better in a range in which it wasn't intended to perform, then there's a problem. When one weapon reliably kills 3 times faster than anything else, there is a problem. When there's one super which overshadows every other, be it in terms of offence or defense, there's a problem. This also isn't a "git gud" issue. I'm already pretty gud. However, I wouldn't mind the removal of Trials. Maybe they'll implement a better competitive playlist then. (I have no idea what's wrong with Fusion Rifles and why Bungie just wants to destroy them. That one is way over my head, if it doesn't have to do with their P2P architecture not allowing them to perform, if they aren't OP)

No one said you have to play it lol , skroob git Gud

Haha :) I kid I kid

Edited by Ribetsu: 12/15/2015 6:13:53 PMI wouldnt go as far as removing it, but we definitely need separate weapon balancing for pve\pvp. Soon all weapons are garbage...

While I don't necessarily agree that Trials should be removed, the whining that comes from bad crucible players is totally out of control. Most of the posts read like the author is having a tantrum and decided to jump on the forums and demand a nerf. The worst part is, Bungie listens to them more than anyone else. (Tells you something about Bungie that they so easily go into agreement with whiners.) When I was killed by Thorn repeatedly, I didn't want it nerfed. I wanted my own! So I got one. Took me 4 days to complete the crucible part (I'm not very good) but I got it. And I killed a lot of guardians with it. Until its demise, of course. Same with Found Verdict, Bad Juju, etc, etc. I never complained about them. I just went and got one for myself. Bungie NEEDS to separate the crucible from PvE. They really should implement something like COD (I think) uses - every player has access to the same set of weapons for each game. That would solve all the issues of imbalance in the crucible. Then the PvE players like me won't have to worry about whiny bad crucible players ruining our game anymore than they already have. Bungie, revert PvE weapons to original awesomeness. Make all crucible weapons equal (meaning shotgun = shotgun, scout = scout, etc). Then separate the two parts of the game. Yes, you might have to spend money on more servers, but it may save this game.

I agree remove trials from the game destiny started going downhill as soon as trials was introduced.
-
I agree with. This and would also like to add that i would like to see it brough down until they can figure out how to remove lag and cheaters from trials.
-
Your argument is that the < 4% of players who venture into ToO have gotten everything nerfed? That doesn't add up. That'd have to be an awfully vocal and persuasive bunch.

Reading down the back of the Destiny original box. "Defeat our enemies. Explore new worlds. Become Legend. From the creators of Halo and the company that brought you Call of Duty. Destiny is a next generation first person shooter, with rich cinematic storytelling set in huge worlds to explore. Create and customize your Guardian. Defeat your enemies. Become Legend in intense cooperative, competitive, and innovative public gameplay modes." And from the Taken King advertisement page"Destiny: The Taken King, the next great adventure in the first person shooter Destiny universe, introduces a new story campaign and quests, new enemies to fight, new locations to explore, new Strikes and Crucible maps, a new Raid that will put players to the ultimate test, and more. To stand up to the challenge, players will have access to three new devastating Guardian subclasses, and a massive arsenal of weapons, armor, and gear." Both times competitive/crucible is slipped into the entire message once. Bungie's selling point has been the PVE side since day one, but the majority of game changes lately have been PVP balances and new PVP content. There are now four PVP sources of 320 light gear and only one source in PVE. The focus is on PVP even though Bungie sold us on PVE. Not to mention back in March it was let out that less time was spent playing PVP than was spent sitting in the tower. http://saynotorage.com/2015/03/05/bungie-accidentally-admitted-their-pvp-is-dead/ Sorry, a whole lotta reading for one small point. Bungie needs to lay off PVE for the sake of PVP. It is not what they sold us and it is not what the majority wants.
-
I think it is pvp in general that is the nerf screamers. And like the old saying goes; "the squeaky wheel gets the oil". Pvp is and has been the most vocal about weapon balancing giving the appearance of them being catered to. I'm not saying that is true but it sure looks that way. I agree with another responder to your post that trials is bungie's proving ground for weapons not players. They won't get rid of it. Imo pve'ers have been more resilient when dealing with the buff/nerf issues of weapon balancing. If something doesn't work well, they try something else that does and get it done. Pvp'ers may want to follow suit before calling for knee jerk reactionary nerfs.
-
I dont want to see trials removed, but make it so you're evenly matched...
-
Sorry but you are wrong. If you check the user stats of the nerf post 99 percent of the time the poster will have 80 percent or more of their time spent in PvE. The people not spending enough time in PvP are getting the weapons nerfed. They can't adapt.
-
Edited by Noble JUH: 12/15/2015 3:26:59 PMI agree.
-
Pvp will ALWAYS ruin pve. This is why Pvp and Pve can't exist in the same game like Destiny. U see it all the time in MMO's such as WoW or Star Wars The Old Republic. But yes get rid of Trials.

At this point in the game, no matter how bs it is, just use the current meta

Edited by Jingo: 12/15/2015 3:30:14 PMThis also begs the question: Why can't we have weapons behave certain ways based on which game mode we're playing? For example, why nerf shotguns in PVP and PVE? It makes no sense! If the people in Trials complain about Thorn then let it be nerfd there! I'm sick of seeing these blanket nerfs that affect all aspects of the game.

Remove PvP all together.....put all the content that was supposed to ship in Sept 2014 back into the game.....make "the next DLC that is the biggest since TTK. Put all end game content into engrams and random drops. Raid can greatly increase the light and frequency of drops but make it the open world explorer shooter MMO it should have been!

No trails is the only thing that i have left to do

The problem isn't trials. Give us something other than straight 3v3. give us an objective game.
