What are some car options you just don't get? I don't understand the appeal of sunroofs. If I want a roof open feel ill buy a convertible.

Brown Soft tops. Especially on nice cars

Cup holders inside my cup holders.

Those automatic car door closers or what ever they're called It senses when your car door is almost closed and pulls it closed
-
Also, I'll never understand ricers. Like it doesn't sound good and it annoys everyone else. Your car sounds like a toy airplane.

Edited by RGC Chedderbob: 12/16/2015 10:33:27 PMFart can mufflers. Every high schooler with a Honda thinks they need one. Everyone else thinks it sounds like someone farting into a can. Also automatic windows and doors. Probably worst ideas ever. Anyone who lives in an area with real cold winters knows what I'm talking about.

Adding lights to the underside of the chassis.

Blinker fluid..

Edited by car15: 12/16/2015 4:06:23 PMLiterally anything that isn't functional in some way. Colors, decals, rims, pointless "comfort" features (IMO, anything besides air conditioning is unnecessary). It's a car. It gets you from point A to point B. Everything else is just ego and vanity.

Start/Stop feature in many new cars mainly Chevys They claim it saves you gas by shutting off your engine anytime you are stopped at a light. eally its just annoying as -blam!- as your car shuts off and on everytime you stop at a light. And the worst part is you cant shut it off Its defintely just a gimmick by car companies to act like they are doing something ecofriendly because it certainly doesnt save gas

I have a 2015 Kia Optima and there is an option to have Eco mode on. It saves gas and all the stuff, but why is there an option to have it turned off? It makes no sense to not have it on

Edited by Lord Huron: 12/16/2015 3:29:22 PMPush to start. Electronic controls for adjusting your seat, child safety Windows (are children really REALLY so dumb they're throwing themselves out windows?). Im sure there's others but can't think right now. I'm a very simple man when it comes to cars. When I bought my jeep it didn't even have air conditioning for a year in CA. No remote lock/unlock, no electric windows.

Leather seats, Cause 3rd degree burn in summer Freezes your clothes to the seat in winter HOW IS THIS A USEFUL THING?!?!

Floor mats... They should all have them required and I will walk out if you're going to charge me for them!

How can I become a car guy?

All of them. I'm not really a car guy.

Edited by Progo: 12/16/2015 5:33:30 AMSteering wheels that adjust position. Carpeted floors. Any HVAC vent that can't be propped open in any position. Cup holders that can't hold large thermoses. Windows that don't close unless you continue to press the button. Battery beneath the driver's seat (makes more room for engine?). I guess I should say I drive a 2001 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T. Nearing the end of its life, but I bought it off my dad for cheap and it corners well :>

No they make sense, a metal folding roof inherently makes a car fairly ugly and a soft top can be broken into in 1 sec with a box cutter.
-
A trunk as opposed to a hatch.
-
A beat up 80s Lincoln with shiny rims that life the car 2 feet about be the ground
-
Heated and cooled cup holders? Colored stitching too I guess... It's not so much the option as how much they cost when they forcefully bundle it with other shit. Adjustable lumbar support in your seats? Well you need to buy the sport brake package for $8,995 to get that.

You can't very well have a sunroof on many body styles of cars, and verts on work well on a few. So I think they're fine. That said, I'd like the newer retracting glass top, but they're not to common. Now if you're referring to factory options, mine would be the inability to turn off the daytime running lights. I get why they have them, but it should be something you still have control over to turn off if you don't want them on. I have had the Focus for over a year now, and drive so seldom at night that I forget to turn on my headlights because of these things. They're bright enough that you don't think about turning on the regular headlights, making you car visible to other cars via the tail lights. Don't know how many times I've driven with no tail lights on because of this.

Probably the leather that looks like its hot glued to the top of the dash on general motors cars.
