She's covered this before. Sexual assets is likely going to be the safest bet to guess genders, although the gender is generally concealed.

Very good question. It depends on the status of the captain and its heritage. Aer doesn't wear a helmet because she is descended from an Archon. A female captain might be exiled, meaning that she isn't bound by the fallen empires rules. Once again, sexual assets are the best bet, despite it being so minute. If you had a look though, the women's face is much softer due to centuries of women being the nurturers.
