I have no idea how many things have gone wrong with this patch, but the lag in the Crucible is worse than ever before.
Iron Banner can be described as lag free, in comparison.
The matchmaking seems to be fundamentally broken, as every lobby I am in either has at least 3 red bars, 6 yellow bars or everyone is yellow bar.
Shots take forever to register, melee charges are getting consumed, yet no damage is being dealt.
Bullets simply disappear (some call them phantom bullets).
I am getting sniped, yet no lense flare shows up (or the last 40 people are apparently the best quickscopers in Destiny).
People do not appear on the Radar, even though they aren't invisible.
Getting killed through walls is also a new favourite pastime of mine.
PvP is currently pretty broken, in terms of connection quality.
Edit:
Thanks for all the replies, up votes and agreement.
It's very reassuring when a lot of people experience similar things.
Something went horribly wrong with this patch, concerning the connection quality and hit detection of melee attacks.

I'm glad it's not just me lol. I was actually starting to feel crazy, looking at the connections and seeing green, but people popping up out of nowhere, shots coming through walls, melees not connecting.
-
Bungies servers suck - i just go back to orbit now as the lag is so bad that the enemy runs straight past you - not even seeing you - get your S😈😈T together Bungie

I do agree with an increase in lag. We've had countless weapon updates in the past, and lag consistency remained after those weapon patches. This update seems like it's at a whole new level of lag. The only difference I can point my finger at in this update, is the newly introduced type of data exchange that mariokart has loaded the servers with.
-
What's sad is that after a year I've learned to except it ... Bungie, eat the next dlc and take our 30 dollars and put them toward dedicated servers!
-
Edited by xb4mmx: 12/18/2015 7:15:54 AMI'm pretty sure it's because less people are playing, so we get matched up with people not around our location
-
I'm seeing very strong points being made in this thread. We may get a response from Bungie if we keep it up.
-
My connection has been fine, even in games with red bars, if lag gets too bad, I just leave the game
-
Edited by FinHammer: 12/18/2015 8:04:02 AMIt's like this. Every single day, every single 6v6. So fricking frustrating. There's nothing you can do. The funny thing is, these guys are always on the top of the leaderboard when the game ends. Godmode...
-
Haven't noticed it, don't care, I still have fun. Onto the next rant.
-
So I am not the only experience this. Thats good news. Can someone explain to me with easy words how this happened? What is changed sonce patch? Have Bungie adressedthe problem?
-
Edited by Forever277: 12/18/2015 7:00:47 AMSame I've been screaming at the tv a lot the last week, waiting for the police to stop by lol All the exact same experience NJ-40m south of NYC so my internet is cherry lol The out of nowhere players just appearing on the map as they shotgun me is really, really getting on my nerves, like seriously pissing me off at this point. I have pretty good map awareness and these people are coming from places I KNOW they couldn't have come from in the time since I last looked Radar is empty Radar is blinking red circle Killed by shoulder charge That's some bullshit I fear for my tv😨
-
Omg it's not just me! IT'S NOT JUST MEEEE! I could weep with joy! All I keep saying out loud to myself when I play now is "that's not possible, you can't survive that. I dealt lethal damage to you." I keep "killing" guardians and turning away to go after someone else, and I'm like "wait, he isn't dead?!" Never mind the around corner kills, players teleporting, and people appearing out of nowhere
-
I literally just posted a similar topic. Completely agree with you. I used to luv crucible, i now have a hard time enjoying it. Even when i have a good match (rare these days) i just don't get any enjoyment out of it. Nerfs, lag, snipe fest. invisible titans, No red light on snipers, shoot guy in the back 5 times, turns around and 1 hit melee me (from full health). Wasn't this bad before

Edited by Alvin Thwait: 12/18/2015 7:19:15 AMI was in a game of rift earlier. Three of us were guarding the spark then all three of us died. All meleed to death by the same person at the same time. No red on the radar, no enemy in view. I used to blame laggers, but let's be honest. Bungie have made tens of billions of dollars to deal with this if they wanted. They just don't. This is why I won't do Trials any more and why Destiny 2 will not see a penny from me.
-
Yeah it's worse than ever, it's got me pretty bummed
-
I agree I have no desire to play any pvp now until they fix this awful lag
-
Edited by Calculus-Entropy: 12/17/2015 8:58:14 PMI'm glad I saw this post and know it's not just me. I normally play pvp for several hours a night before going to bed. I've noticed that after this last update I have no ambition to. It's not my weapons because I'm always willing to adjust and learn what is "in" depending on the update... It's all the junk listed here that has made me lose interest till things get better.
-
I agree with everything you said, it's been worse than ever lately. Tried different game modes and still the same issues it's just not fun anymore. Definitely the sniping is by far annoying right now. I've been killed through walls, quickscopers from nowhere, and even many times I've had a CQC with someone killed them with a shotgun or fusion I end up dying by that guy sniping me? Wtf!
-
Same here they need to do something about it year 1 wasnt that laggy at al
-
I have more of a problem with seemingly everyone hogging heavy.
-
Just had some horrible games, so bad I saved them to go back and watch the lag. Hits not registering, supers not registering, deaths registering 3 seconds later. It's so bad, never seen it this bad it's worse than IB has ever been.
-
I was regularly getting 2.0 kd or more before the update. Once it dropped it became a complete lag fest! It makes me wanna stick to pve until they fix it :(
-
Edited by Weeeaal: 12/18/2015 5:38:24 AMAgreed. No issues before 2.0. It got a little weird during 2.0 but 2.1 has been pretty bad. Match full of "green bars" and half of them are rubberbanding. I GGd a dude and he had time to snipe me out of my super and run behind a wall before dying from the GG shot. Things like this have been happening a lot lately. It can't be that everyone's connections are suddenly crap. I used to enjoy the crucible, despite my very average k/d. Now, between the lag and the nerf herders, it's hard to enjoy anymore.
-
Yeah pvp has been weird lately even when everyone is green bar. Here's a montage that might cheer you up https://youtu.be/oHOZpjg2BZA
-
When the game first released people couldn't even get on the servers! At least you can get in the game now! If you don't like it don't play it bro
-
I've been preaching about it for months. The connections in PvP are in one word... Pathetic. Implement a ping booter, polish up the matchmaking, or just start banning people because this cant go on. The attempts at balancing PvP are enough of a joke, so can Bungie at least show some signs of progress with the connections? It's always one step forward, 2 steps back, 8 new bugs, and 3 new exploits with the rejects over at Bungo.
