I have no idea how many things have gone wrong with this patch, but the lag in the Crucible is worse than ever before.
Iron Banner can be described as lag free, in comparison.
The matchmaking seems to be fundamentally broken, as every lobby I am in either has at least 3 red bars, 6 yellow bars or everyone is yellow bar.
Shots take forever to register, melee charges are getting consumed, yet no damage is being dealt.
Bullets simply disappear (some call them phantom bullets).
I am getting sniped, yet no lense flare shows up (or the last 40 people are apparently the best quickscopers in Destiny).
People do not appear on the Radar, even though they aren't invisible.
Getting killed through walls is also a new favourite pastime of mine.
PvP is currently pretty broken, in terms of connection quality.
Edit:
Thanks for all the replies, up votes and agreement.
It's very reassuring when a lot of people experience similar things.
Something went horribly wrong with this patch, concerning the connection quality and hit detection of melee attacks.

Yup just played a game with 5/6 people playing in 5 bar
-
I agree. A lot of weird CQ stuff like the radar not showing properly or melee hits clearly connecting but no damage registers. I want to blame SRL but a declining player base makes sense too.

Edited by The 7th fall: 12/17/2015 11:58:31 PMIron Lagger lag free? You realize a lot of us made the trend of calling Iron Banner Iron Lagger for a reason? Each Iron Lagger makes the lag in PvP overall worse, and oh boy are we in for an early New Year's gift upon the 29th for another round of Iron Lagger. That aside, I would say this meta during TTK is by far the worst in terms of lag and overall gameplay. I've rage quit more times in TTK because of lag affecting my Supers, melee charges spent but not dealing damage, grenades not dealing damage quite a lot of the time, bullets passing through people or disappearing entirely, heavy/special ammo crates not allowing to be used, control/salvage/rift objectives not registering, and this list could go on as to how TTK is worse than the rest of the metas.

I had a game where only my melee did damage. Yet i could be shot. It seems slr has brought this and i think they did something too their net code honestly. Getting shot through walls with zero lag on anyone is an actual thing for me.

Just tank your kd: Gives you more people to play with

I warlock melee'd a player with half-health and no oversheild and they didn't take any damage. They blinked backwards and next thing I know a grenade kills me. My fireteam saw the melee as well. That and other miscellaneous glitchy-ness: shots not registering, phantom radar hits, etc. I'm usually not one to complain, but it's pretty bad.

I have been summoned
-
Hardly anyone is playing so its reaching out further and further to match make hence the lag.
-
Yep im in Australia and every match is -blam!-ed with lag game is finished for me..
-
From what I've heard, they've enabled global skill-based matchmaking, possibly to combat the lowering player count.
-
It's become crazy how many matches I play with red and yellow bars. Granted, my net is 16 mos, but I have never seen this much lag.

The matchmaking seems to be fundamentally broken, as every lobby I am in either has at least 3 red bars, 6 yellow bars or everyone is yellow bar. - I see more yellows than anything. I'll see maybe 1 red bar every 2 matches Shots take forever to register, melee charges are getting consumed, yet no damage is being dealt. - agree with this for the most part Bullets simply disappear (some call them phantom bullets). - never seen that what so ever I am getting sniped, yet no lense flare shows up (or the last 40 people are apparently the best quickscopers in Destiny). - seen very few times, can only assume quick scope People do not appear on the Radar, even though they aren't invisible. - radar seems to work fine for me. If it says someone is right on me and I don't see them initially, they are usually above me Getting killed through walls is also a new favourite pastime of mine. - yeah that's just lag and latency issues. I'm hoping to get a new smaller monitor for Christmas to help with the latency I get from my bigger tv PvP is currently pretty broken, in terms of connection quality.[/quote] - not that much for me. I have a friend who plays and he gets red bar a lot in just PVP. PVE he is green every time. Even when he gets red bar in PVP, he isn't glitching around or running into walls or even sees other players doing that. It's actually kind of weird
-
Nothing more fun than playing against someone who is actually good and has that red bar connection. /s
-
Not even close to that bad for me
-
Netduma R1 bro. Thank me later.

I quit PvP a few days ago. Been playing a few old CoD games. Ghosts is what... 2 years old? 2 new CoDs since it launched and yet, less lag than Destiny PVP. A major shame, because I was having a blast the last few months in Destiny PVP.

I'm with you there. Had a bit of a break playing battlefront. Come back to crucible which has always been a favourite haunt to find it pretty much as you have described . Bloody nightmare . My best to date being shot down by 3 guardians who were not on the radar or even there with me until I died
-
The lag is getting pathetic.. I keep getting quick sniped. Were there's no delay between scope flashing and me dying. I find it hard to believe that many people are that quick/ good consistently getting head shots. ToO is one big snipe/ lag fest
-
It's clearly been much worse since update 2.1.0 I asked one player whether he was lag switching and he replied,"I play solo in Australia and it puts me in the U.S. Servers" Matchmaking should be localized especially when playing alone. You should not be put in games hosted by someone from the other side of the world.
-
Yeah they broke matchmaking this update. All I see now are brazil and UK and sweden...I live in north america this is ridiculous.
-
I posted this recently, and I'm glad a lot of people are agreeing. Another factor to consider is that with less people playing, we're being paired over greater distances and with people with potato connections.

Git Gud

Activision is probably directing more resources and server to Blvk Ops 3 as is breaking a lot of sales records and they just launched some micro transactions too
-
Most annoying thing for me is getting sniped by an invisible player. They only become visible after I've been killed. I used to play Crucible alot but now I just play once for the 15 marks or a couple of times if I have absolutely nothing else to do.

Edited by NathanW18: 12/17/2015 4:35:59 PMHaven't played since the update, but a lot of people are saying the matchmaking has changed. Surprising, because the game was already laggy enough. I get the reasoning for skill based matchmaking, but not at the expense of connection, that is already bad as it is. I will never agree with skill based over connection. A strong connection is way more important than closer games.

I've noticed this mainly in 6v6 modes, that is why I stick to 3v3 now...
